blade dance since how many targets ?

question is about blade dance (not death sweep) without artifact traits.

currently i always use blade dance on 2+ targets in pve.

does the the artifact trait change on how many targets its worth using ?

I believe it stays at 3+ targets as Nakloh mentioned. The reason for this is that while Blade Dance gets buffed via the Artifact Traits, other abilities get similar buffs as well. In fact, Blade Dance receives less buffs from the Artifact Traits than most other abilities. Even with the Artifact Relics, Blade Dance receives a single buff, Balanced Blades. As of right now there are no Relics that adds a rank to Balanced Blades.

My opinion is based on pre-patch testing, but the answer I found is 3+, before that is a dps loss.

Wont it be a dps gain on 1 target if you pick that talent?

Nope, a CS is still more dmg. My beta testing found 4+, unless the pack was almost dead and I didn't have FR, TG, or EB up then I would BD on 3.

    so its 3 or 4 ?

so what ppl are saying eventhough artifact trait increases BD damage by 10% for each target hit, u never want to use it on 2 even with that 20% dmg increase ? im talking untalented, just trait.

My sims last week said blade dance on a single-talent was DPS-neutral with Chaos Strike.

Of course both Felblade and Bloodlet deal more damage than First Blood on a single target, and Bloodlet works on up to 3 targets also, so you should never actually take First Blood. But if you did, it would indeed replace Chaos Strike when off cooldown.

Can you post these sims? I am intrigued, partly because of own testing also following the beta thread here that BD is not worth the fury to dmg for one or two targets. There may be a case for it with first blood and heavy heavy haste.

You actually need quite a few sims to get the full picture.

    1) Bloodlet (and using Throw Glaive rotationally) is 5.6% ahead of First Blood (and using Blade Dance rotationally) on single targets.

    2) First Blood (and using Blade Dance rotationally) is essentially the same performance as Chaos Strike on a single target, discounting other talents (which are better).

    3) Bloodlet is better than First Blood in both cleave at 2-3 targets and AE at 6 targets, because it scales up to 3 targets and First Blood only helps on the first.

    4) Therefore you should never, ever, take First Blood. It's a trap talent that needs to be buffed or changed.

DH_Havoc_T19P default profile, Chaos Strike on 1 target, Bloodlet: 254.7k DPS
DH_Havoc_T19P Chaos Strike on 1 target, First Blood: 226.4k DPS (-12.5%)
    DH_Havoc_T19P Chaos Strike on 1 target, no T3 talent: 226.4k DPS (-12.5%)

DH_Havoc_T19P Blade Dance on 1 target, Bloodlet: 243.1k DPS (-4.7%)
DH_Havoc_T19P Blade Dance on 1 target, First Blood: 241.1k DPS (-5.6%)
    DH_Havoc_T19P Blade Dance on 1 target, no T3 talent: 214.9k DPS (-18.5%)

DH_Havoc_T19P default profile, 2 targets, Bloodlet: 370.8k DPS
DH_Havoc_T19P default profile, 2 targets, First Blood: 328.3k DPS (-12.9%)

DH_Havoc_T19P default profile, 3 targets, Bloodlet: 515.0k DPS
DH_Havoc_T19P default profile, 3 targets, First Blood: 456.4k DPS (-12.8%)

DH_Havoc_T19P default profile, 6 targets, Bloodlet: 854.2k DPS
DH_Havoc_T19P default profile, 6 targets, First Blood: 803.3k DPS (-6.3%)
