Funny given that you complained about exactly this in relation to tires the other day...
Anyway, if the machine still works, what's wrong with that?
In the case of Blizzard, it's their choice to support old shit like that.
And before you counter claim about the tires thing, computers are generally not a safety related thing. In the case that they are, then yes I agree they shouldn't neccessarily be too old. (How old I'm not interested in attempting to quantify right now).
I have an Apple and yeah. If it was just the hardware it would be really overpriced. I can get a much cheapter windows PC, BUT
Apple OSx is much more performant than a Windows OS. My WoW runs a lot better on my 5k Monitor on Mac, than on Windows (I have dualboot on my iMac). WoW Just lags because Windows can't really handle 5k Monitors. It has a Problem with a lot of Programms and you can read about this in some forums, e.g. teamspeak forum (yeah, windows can't display teamspeak right on 5k monitor if you use scaling)
There is so many small Problems that just make me go away from Windows (installing dev tools like nodejs, gem) and getting a virus on osx is really hard. Windows can get a Virus if you open an Image with corrupted headers.
But what alternatives do you have? Linux and Osx.. and since I work as a Consultant and Managing Director I need my laptop to always work and osx/apple is the only device that never let me down. Linux has Problems with some Software that is used from time to time in different companies.
I can't visit a customer of mine and say 'yeah sorry I can't connect to your vpn because there is no supported citrix client for your citrix version'.
I'm not paying for high performance hardware. I'm paying for high performance software and stability and that's totally worth it if you use your laptop/pc for working.
For Gaming the only problem is that osx doesnt have directX, else it would be the better gaming os, but since I only play Blizzard games the only game I need to switch to windows for is Overwatch. Everything else runs better on osx.

I´m really glad that i never owned a Apple pruduct and never ever will evenm if they´re the only ones who will build smartphones or computers.
I would even let the world burn before i ever touch one of their shitty products.

People keep buying their stuff. There's probably something to it. I don't own an Apple product, nor do I think I ever will. Unless I win the lottery

TBH, Apple has always been this way. They make pretty stuff, and, it is generally decent quality...but if you do a cost-benefit analysis, Apple has never been a good deal.
The reason people's perception of Apple has been sliding is because Steve Jobs was a PR powerhouse. He made people believe Apple products that were objectively no better than the competitor's (in some cases, actually objectively worse) were substantially better than anything else on the planet.
Basically, people got sold a bill of goods. Now that the PR is fading away, they are starting to realize it...but are erroneously thinking that this just happened...
r.i.p. alleria. 1997-2017. blizzard ruined alleria forever. blizz assassinated alleria's character and appearance.
i will never forgive you for this blizzard.
I worked with a G4 back at my college internship. I liked it, back then on a PC you had to reboot like every few hours or once a day, but the G4 "we'd reboot once a month, we'd feel guilty otherwise" is what they told me. Now, my PC will reboot itself at 3am once every 3-4 months for quarterly updates.
At least with a mac, you are getting a finished product of sorts. A PC, you really don't buy them anymore, you have them build (build yourself unless you are a puss puss). If you are ultra lazy, you can just get a laptop, since those run all games pretty well - you just have to customize a tickle to get your external 40s running through it (what, $40 dock).
apple are the worst company ever, the overcharge for there products which is nothing new, an iphone' s parts are not worth £700, with that £700 i could buy a pretty decent PC
