Price hikes do have a benefit--- they allow for the best mechanism for scarcity to be corrected. The people who need or want the epi pens the most will pay the increased cost for them, the company making them can use the extra profit to make more and correct the scarcity, and it signals other companies to make more. With a price control, they'd be sold to whoever showed up first until there were none left and then they'd be resold black market style.

Just lol. This is a monopoly. What has supply and demand got to do with a market in which a single player sets total production numbers?

The worst part is insurance companies can force you to change your medication to a generic to save them $$. Prior authorization forms are required for mine and they only last a year. Insurance can then say no and make you switch to a generic or similar type of medicine that is on their preferred list (saves them $$)

How exactly is swapping to the exact same product, for cheaper, a bad thing?

I mean sure, if you're talking about chemically different drugs, that's one thing. But going to a generic version of medication is literally the exact same drug, just produced by a different company who doesn't sell it as a brand name.

Fairly regularly. Professional athletes often get pay raises like that. CEOs with stock options often do as well, although that's less "salary" and more monetary value of the compensation package.

Nope most people are happy to get a raise around 1-2%, barring a promotion of course.
