In my free market country, things like these get frowned on by the government and they do regulate it though via negotiations.

For example we had a very expensive pill against a specific disease, think it was Solaris. 18k per month. So our government negotiated with the company and they dropped the price to 9k per month and the government pays it back now. They have been much harsher if the companies were in our country though (They once increased their taxes by the same amount of the price hike, the company backtracked a few days after), but you can't do much if they are abroad.

So I expect the American government has some kind of similar way to pressure their companies to drop prices.

Well one day we won't be able to afford to fight natural selection, and everything will return to the way that it was meant to be. We are not only allowing, but forcing our species to continue reproducing with extremely destructive genetic defects, such as severe allergic reactions, and it will undermine the continued existence of our species if we allow it to continue.
Do I feel bad for people with severe allergic reactions? Of course I do, but I'm sorry, they are meant to die just like they always have. We have only recently become so obsessed with feelings, that we can't even see the hubris in our meddling with the natural course of things.

Capitalism at work. Nothing to see here. We should cut their taxes. That always is the answer.

Mine have an expiration date of a year. I'd be careful with that. I get a prescription for 2/year, only renewed yearly unless I end up using them. They are so much more expensive than they used to be, though. Even after insurance covers a good chunk of them.

Well unless you are a state that embrace full socialism, which will most likely make other countries to avoid dealing with you (since you have objected the capitalism ideology) I don't see how this scenario can play out...

You can get liquid epinephrine, and inject it using a syringe, just ask your doctor not to prescribe the EpiPen.

    And that matters, why?

What is so bad about wanting others to be happy? Should we just stop producing medication? Perform surgery?

From what I know, isn't that more dangerous and/or requires training?

    Well... it's less idiot proof.
It is by caffeine alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the beans of Java that thoughts acquire speed, the hands acquire shakes, the shakes become a warning.

Yes, but your doctor can show you how to properly do it. Obviously not applicable to all situations/people, but if it works for you, it's a much cheaper alternative.

Pharmaceutical companies make the likes of Hitler and Stalin look like Saints... seriously don't understand how ANY Government allows these fuckers to get away with this -- it's essentially murder making people unable to afford it.

I asked for this for at home. Doctor was like "you can't use it at work, and I'm not giving you two prescriptions." Had to go with the EpiPen =(

Your "Happiness" comes at the cost of undermining the future survival of our species... THAT is what is so bad about it.
Typically, the need for Medication and Surgery aren't caused by destructive genetic defects that people can then pass along to future generations, who then pass it on and spread it, who then pass it on and spread it ad infinitum.

But what do you say about people like Stephen Hawking, who wouldn't be a live today if it wasn't for modern medicine but has greatly contributed to mankind.

Well, I suppose you don't have much choice without the government providing free healthcare or do not have proper insurance.

Not a huge problem if we can fix em, so I don't think I really care about your little paranoid view of the future of humankind.
Its only human to want to help other survive.

Even with insurance the EpiPen can be expensive.

This can be incredibly dangerous. Epipens are made so that the liquid becomes discolored when the epinephrine breaks down, so there is a visible sign of when it actually expires, but in the heat of the moment it can be pretty easy to miss that.
