    Slimline Optical Drive

    Hey guys,

    I have this Optical Drive:

I'm looking to connect it to my Motherboard (MSI Z170I) however I'm told I need an adapter for it to be able to be powered.

    Is this something I need?

I'm struggling to find something as the power cable won't fit into this optical drive.

Could someone point me to the right direction please?

You should only need a sata power cable from your PSU to the optical drive and a regular SATA cable from the optical drive to the mobo (usually there are some included with your mobo)

The standard SATA power cable is too large to fit the optical drive, which I why I was wondering if I'll need an alternate cable or an adapter of some kind to power it.

This is the type of cable you require:
Akasa SATA/Power cable for slimline opticals - 20cm
Akasa SATA/Power cable for slimline opticals - 40cm
