How often do you scan with Auctioneer / Auctioneer vs TSM.

So I've finally decided to get into using an AH addon and figured I'd ask you guys which you prefer. So far I've seen Auctioneer can take a couple hours to scan (not sure if it gets faster after the first one) and if you get the Desktop app TSM just keeps track of everything for you, but TSM also has a lot more of a learning curve... So I'm sort of on the fence with what might be best in the long run and my questions to you guys would be as follows:

    1) Do you prefer Auctioneer or TSM (maybe even a different addon)?

    2) If you use Auctioneer how often do you scan / If you use TSM do you notice any performance issues with the Desktop app?

    3) For you TSM people, what addons do you get to go with it and do they add to the time it takes to get used to all the options?

TSM is amazing once setup, but is an absolute ball-ache to setup. I just use Auctionator for most of my basic stuff. If I was to get into crafting/selling stuff again TSM would definitely be the way to go.

As for scanning, with TSM, you just import from the site iirc - but it's been a while. No need to scan at all.

I never scan, always undercut by 50%+ and get it sold. People who scan don't like me.

Or maybe they love you because they insta-snipe your items and repost them at higher prices

Never, because you don't need to scan with the TSM desktop app.

Yes I once liked being the guy who offered great deals. Then I finally noticed all my great deals were being snapped up and reposted by the resellers. So you're making 40-50% less and the people you're aiming the great deals at, rarely see them. All the while you're making the Rich richer, thus enabling them to control more and more of the AH.

On a huge server, like Ravencrest(EU) Auctioneer's scan simply doesn't work, you can only rely on TSM. I have the TSM app running behind so prices are refreshed when I log to another character or /reloadui.

However, I miss some of Auctioneer's functionality from TSM. Still you can make tons of profit using TSM.

Mhmm. the server I am on seems far too large to bother with scanning. I may just bite the bullet and go with TSM. How 'required' are the additional TSM modules or should just the base addon be plenty fine?

    Sometimes.

Currently there is a dipshite who has decided to try to control part of the unique crafted transmog market on my server. He buys some of the stuff I post and then reposts it for thousands more.

The thing is, he buys bracers and reposts them. How many people do you know who 1) want to collect all the bracer transmogs and 2) even bother to transmog bracers because in 99% of cases they aren't visible. So I have made thousands of gold off this guy, because I just keep posting 1 of each bracer at a fair price, and he keeps buying them and reposting them at sky-high prices, and nobody buys anything he posts, ever. LOL.

I use both Auctionator and TSM. Auctionator for quick-selling items and TSM for selling items that I sell on a regular basis. I don't ever need to scan the AH since I use the TSM app. Just set it to load on start up and you'll always know the (recent) prices of pretty much every item.

I don't bother with TSM as I can't just set it up as a auctionator replacement. Too much of a pain to make separate groups etc when I just wanna sell what is in my bags.

You don't need to scan, this will keep track on AH prices:

TSM has lots of modules, which you can install separately. If you are only interested in prices, e.g. in tooltips, I think you only need the basic one.
Still, I recommend you to learn TSM, because it can help you so much. If you will know only the basics, like me, you will love it.

This is a guide for tsm2 (tsm3 is much more complex), but you will get some ideas: https://lunchmoneyenterprises.wordpr...ltimate-guide/

using TSM with external update. Its the way to go if you use the AH a few time a day on a high pop server.

Posting scan take allready long enough to not have to make a few complete scan on top of it.

I might be ignorant here, but what is the benefit of running full scans? I've used Auctioneer for years and I just have it check the prices on whichever item I'm currently selling, and I either let it undercut automatically or I adjust prices manually if I know it's something that will eventually be the best deal (bags etc).

I guess to so that you know historical prices?

I transitioned from Auctioneer -> Auctionator -> TSM through the years I've been playing.

Auctioneer is very beginner friendly with some great functionality.
Auctionator is much much faster in scanning and keeps its database smaller and more tidy.
TSM right now for no scans and faster on the spot checking of prices.

Overall, I've used Auctionator the most. Has the best balance of advanced and user friendly functionality and great utility like scanning and cancelling your auctions that have been undercut automatically. I haven't yet found a way to do this with TSM.
TSM on the other hand is much more integrative, allowing you to queue crafts and make material lists that carry over through relogs to other characters to find them.

Sometimes I miss some stuff from Auctionator and I don't use half of the stuff in TSM, but I think I'm sticking with it for now.

I also use a combination of TSM and Auctionator. Auctionator mostly for quick purchases.
