Alderamin 8: I actually cared about Kanna's death. It was foreshadowed pretty heavily though.

Except for the fact that I totally missed the foreshadowing, I agree. In a couple of episodes they did a good job of imbuing her with some value so that her death had impact. It wasn't overly flashy or dramatic, and conveyed the idea that people were dying due to the general's aggressive ineptitude.
