    Overwatch World Cup Teams

Earlier this month, we announced that the first-ever Overwatch World Cup would be hosted at BlizzCon 2016, and we called on YOU—our players—to help us select the dream team that would represent your country. After tabulating over 3 million votes and gathering suggestions from each of the Team Captains, we're happy to reveal the final rosters for all the nations and regions participating in this international exhibition!

Starting in September, many of these teams will take part in best-of-three, single-elimination online qualifiers. Then, at BlizzCon in November, sixteen teams will battle in round-robin group stages and single-elimination finals. To ensure that all major regions of the world are well-represented at BlizzCon, the sixteen teams competing there will include six from the Europe game region, six from the Asia-Pacific game regions, and four from the Americas.
Here's the full list of teams/players. Favorites seem to be...

    Team USA
    Seagull - NRG
    Talespin - EnVyUS
    Adam - Cloud9
    Gods - NRG
    MESR- Team Liquid
    Ster - Streamer/Caster

    Team Sweden
    IDDQD - Fnatic
    Chipshajen - EnVyUS
    Cocco - EnVyUS
    TVIQ - Rogue
    Zebbosai - Misfits
    Zave - Luminosity

There's also Team China who somehow managed to get almost the entire Invictus Gaming pro team voted in, with the 5 players from the said team and the sixth player from another pro team.

Just seems like another popularity contest... again.

Wait, they're actually doing teams based on country instead of, you know.. Being teams? This is going to be very interesting to watch. China probably has a good chance, considering they have almost an entire team who're used to playing together.

Totally. At least for France, those are just popular streamers not good players.

Well we've known Blizz has been going all out with advertising this game for a while. Popular players are bound to attract more attention than the best of the best players.

Especially when the way 4 out of 6 players are chosen is by popular vote..
People are more likely to vote for someone they know, and they're more likely to know someone who's streaming than someone playing at the highest level

Still better than Mexico who's team captain has a competitive rank of 41 but has 1 million subs on youtube.

Also, some really good players from Canada like Roolf who finished Rank 1 NA in Season 1 with a peak rating SR 89 were overlooked to get more popular names in. I'am surprised the Canada team captain didn't use one of his two his picks to get him in and instead chose to use it on a (extremely popular) Starcraft player, HuK.

Obviously because it's a popularity contest and not a skill contest.
