Wink Canada is giving back to the homeland!

Tim Hortons is heading across the Atlantic in hopes that British tea drinkers may warm to the chain's coffee and doughnuts.

Restaurant Brands International, the parent company of Tim's, said Wednesday it has reached a deal with an investor to expand the Canadian restaurant chain into England, Scotland and Wales.

"This deal is part of our growth plan to take the iconic Tim Hortons brand around the world," said Daniel Schwartz, chief executive of Restaurant Brands International.

Great Britain is an attractive market with a strong and growing coffee culture, Schwartz said, calling it "a natural fit."

Reports indicate the expansion will begin in 2017, although no details have been provided on the number of Tim Hortons outlets planned.
More of the world will know what a double double is!

Tim Horton's is named after the Canadian hockey player, Tim Horton who started the franchise in Hamilton Ontario.

But it's now a subsidiary of an American holding company that is majority-owned by a Brazilian company.

Both Burger King and Tim Hortons are owned by Restaurant Brands International, which is Canadian based, but RBI is owned by 3G Capital, a Brazilian company.

Starbucks is trash if you're going for coffee.

Otherwise, I had Tim Horton's once in the city, they have one in Penn Station. Possibly not as good as a regular one because it's in the city, but I still prefer Dunkin Donuts, at least in terms of iced coffees. Still interesting to see a huge jump though when the one in Penn Station is the only one I've ever seen!

Never understood the fascination for Tim Horton, as a Canadian myself (well, rather a Québeci)

    It is anything but American.

Technically Burger King is now Canadian if we're going that route Since its parent company is based in Oakville Ontario now.

Tim Hortons is also trash if you like coffee now-a-days. But it's cheap and consistent tasting trash. Stupid McDonalds, buying out Tim Hortons original bean supplier.

First and last time I ever had Dunkin coffee was in Chicago, 1 cream and 1 sugar in it and it was like fuckin' syrup. Breakfast sandwich was pretty good though.
