Indeed. There are some even on this forum who would consider being an informant for Stasi or KGB to be the fulfillment of their dreams.

Communism was defeated by the CIA and no one else.

They engaged in economic warfare against every communist country, isolating them, destroying their insitutions and infrastructure, etc. A superb book on the subject is called, "At The Abyss", if you're actually interested in what happened during the Cold War - I highly recommend it.

It's right up there with The Shadow Factory for me, a book written in 2009 which detailed - by an insider - that the NSA was spying on everything and everyone - everywhere - years before Snowden proved it: and implies it's far more extensive than even Snowden has suggested.

Two great books that together will teach you more about current realpolitik than a four year poli sci degree.

Just sod of my great grand mother would have died of hunger after the communists stole her farm and send my grand father to prison for being a "kulak" if the other people in the village did not help her.

And statistics tell a different story, but I think you know that.

All right, gentleperchildren, let's review. The year is 2024 - that's two-zero-two-four, as in the 21st Century's perfect vision - and I am sorry to say the world has become a pussy-whipped, Brady Bunch version of itself, run by a bunch of still-masked clots ridden infertile senile sissies who want the Last Ukrainian to die so they can get on with the War on China, with some middle-eastern genocide on the side

He was a Polish catholic and poland is hardcore catholic. His speeches against Communism's forced atheism weakened the Warsaw pact.

That is probably a pretty good answer, still southern America saw its fair share of communism and if I recall right most of those countries are catholic.

That is actually quite interesting, I have to admit it is something that I certainly didn't learn in my history class.

Hard to argue against how it ended a recession, got unemployment back to normal numbers, and doubled the government's income yet, so many still do. That pesky spending though...not so much.

A nonce, a racist criminal and an evil witch. 3 people who've done more harm to this world than communism ever did

Catholicism does arguably share similarities with communism however.

So they together killed more than 100 millions people? Care to provide a source for this claim?

I'd say that they clash rather hard, since communism doesn't really accept religions (granted there were many forms of communism, so some of course accepted communism). It was more that the Pope could have spoken out against it and that might have been what OP meant have had a hand in it.
