Alternatives to flying mounts

I just want to preface this by saying I'm fine with or without flying, there are upsides and downsides to both sides of that coin.

What I want to know is, would the community be interested in gliding / jumping mounts? I remember these very fondly from my brief time in everquest 2. The game is already designed to receive us when we have flying mounts so there is no reason to worry about gliders and bouncers getting places they should not be.

It made the act of traveling entertaining, at least for me, and I just can't say that about flying or running. What do you think?

Some might argue that a glider or jumper devalues engineering / demon hunters, but I think that is hooey. Heck, give engineers a foot spring mount for all I care lol.

Well you may think it's hooey, buuuut blizz Seems to think it's not. They sorta get to, ya know, make that call.

I'd want climbing mounts. Hit a wall? Start climbing up the wall. Stay there if you want. Walk on ceilings.

Taking your time, discovering things you'd likely never bump into when flying, etc. It's more cosmetic vs. practical, I'd say.

I'm not arguing against flying here, I'm just giving you the reasoning is all.

honestly I wish all flying mounts worked something like gliders/aviana's feather/etc, at least in the current expansion. Stuff like that is a lot more fun to use than the flying mounts we have, and feel a lot more like flight than the VTOL/air-swimming flyers everyone's used to.

but I'm sure they'll enable flight in broken isles sooner rather than later because people are fucking whiners

I think that the only real reason for Blizzard is that the world is really really small in Legion. When using a glider and the new aviana feathers, the world feel SO small it's crazy.

This would haven been great for the spider mount.

Jumping and bouncing is also super fun, similar to the Sunreaver daily in Mop or the toy that transforms you into hulk.

I agree. Mounts wouldn't really take away from that since you still have to be out of combat and they have a cast time.

Like wasting 30 minutes running around random tree guessing "how the f.ck do I get on top to loot these 15 garrison resources"? In this case I prefer flying without a doubt.

Why not both? Make ground mounts actually have a reason to choose over flying so people can't use the excuse that they're sacrificing their ability to be 'competitive' in the open world.

Wait a second, this thread isn't about removing flight in favor of jumping mounts, but jumping mounts as a fun alternative on top in regions where you can fly. Right?

Like a jumping spider mount that technically travels the same distance as a 310% speed mount, but through massive jumps!

How would that be not fun? At least for a while.

Using your garrison HS, you original HS , you Dalaran HS, Your shipyard compass then taking 4 portals to go back to Dalaran then the flying path to another world quest instead of wasting on a fucking island in the middle of nowhere full of elites trash in a cave so you can feel the immersion.

Yes, I'm not proposing removal of flying mounts though I personally would not mind if gliding etc were a thing. I guess I could have worded things better. I didn't even consider increasing the move speed to flying levels, that would make it so much better. Why even stop there though? Ground mounts that are obviously not able to do big jumps or glide, a wolf for example, maybe they could just plow through mobs and knock them aside or something fun like that.
