Those who are for it can't begin to imagine the long-term consequences of artificial population control. Science Fiction, for the most part just scratches the surface of the dangers or artificially controlling the human population to that extent. Pregnancy eventually becoming outlawed to maximize productivity aside, there's also the people born in labs who will know they exist only for a predetermined purpose. Pregnancy won't be outlawed at first but after a while people will say "Why should a woman risk miscarriage, dying during pregnancy or bying in childbirth when you can just grow a baby in an artificial womb?". Employers will get on board and cut back on Maternity Leave to pressure women into going to a lab if they want a baby.

It's sounding like the plot of the movie Man of Steel but it's the logical outcome when you turn to artificial population control. We're talking education centers being built to train whole generations of people born from artificial wombs so the general population isn't burdened with raising them. This generation of people will have grown up knowing they were "created", not born into the world. This won't happen at first but eventually, it will.

When you automate every aspect of life, you no longer "live". You just exist. When you just "exist", you're no longer "alive".

There are always doomsayers whenever societies are at the cusp of technological advances... Realize that none of those awful things you mention are likely to happen because technologies are developed with the risks of sci-fi madness in mind, for specific purposes that involve helping societies in some way, and they never end up being used to dictate peoples' actions. Do you really think people would be okay with their governments banning traditional pregnancies? We're 7+ billion people deep into the practice of traditional pregnancies; hypochondria will not keep this species from procreating.

There are some different issues at play in Japan compared to north america/europe, but a few things are the same. It's too expensive and risky to financially obligate yourself to a spouse and even worse to children. I know Japan has some extra tax breaks and other things in place, but it just doesn't make up for it.

Not really, it merely is trying to preserve the status quo and creating a bottomless bit you have to forever hoover up people to pour into. Helping to raise the cost of labor will help younger Japanese people afford housing and build up wealth, eventually re-orienting the population.

I think you read the wrong way around. I said black women are the only group who really prefer black men. Although in terms of preferences the strongest interracial one is white men asian women. Black men looking at other races is pretty mild compared to other combos.



I know what you mean on the 3rd sentence. It sucks. There's some Key and Peele skit which unironically laments a black vagina, I just thought that was sad and indicative of more than simply a preference for other phenotypes, but something more like a personal hatred for black women.
