Well what I just thought was really weird is nowadays how casually I interact with the people of the boards I visit to varying degrees. At some point long ago, I expected something really insane or out-of-the-ordinary to happen, but nope, nothing special even three years later.

But I don't really look for trouble and behave like a normal, polite human being so it's probably that. It's just I originally thought even that wouldn't matter and you'd get crazy shit.

I honestly think this is far worse than what people make 4chan out to be. It's odd (in theory, in practice it's easy to see why) how the more active moderation is, the more of a hugbox the site becomes. People will always find a way to show hostility to one another but sites like reddit or tumblr do so while still being able to threaten the one whose opinion isn't supported by numbers.

It's the internet, you find what you go looking for. Most of the people who thought 4chan was full of the worst things on the internet looked for those things and found them on 4chan. Now it's more of a cultural claim that 4chan is awful, but it started out by freaks scaring themselves.

Barring nudity, 4Chan isn't all too different from MMO-C G-OT. You can actually meet a lot of bright folk there in channels like technology and science and mathematics. Sure, it isn't consistently as good as a sub-Reddit or Quora, but they do have pros even with the Black men stole my white women rhetoric going on in some of their other cesspools (which is also prevalent in sub-Reddits and occasional here). Yahoo's userbase is probably massively the worst prior to the deep web.

They are not the worst the internet has to offer by far, although if we were to limit the discussion to the surface web only, it becomes more debatable.

If you want to see a text book case of the worst the Internet has to offer, just go to Wyrmrest Accord Server. There's this fellow named Zan on it (full name left undisclosed as this is not a call-out post). Sometimes he posts here, pretending to be a halfway decent individual who just likes to Roleplay. Truth is, I knew em for several years as a close friend and they are to their credit a fun and witty person sometime. The problem is this isn't their true nature. It's the persona they use to attract people with and ply to spread their gossip and deception with.

You see this person and I use the term loosely is one of the founders of Failzeroth's Facebook. What is Failzeroth? Failzeroth is a site focused on shitposting and organizing harassment trains on anyone and everyone who does not meet it's personal specifications. He also is a frequent at Darknest (a WoW ERP site) and has a Blood Elf Priest with the title "Pervy Priest" in his MRP. That should be a clear warning sign as well. I mean.. shit son with how much he actually ranted in his Guild before I left, I feel like I left with half-melted ears. So much hate and vitriol.

I'd say it's a he, but you can't call any person masculine or mature by any stretch when they have given themselves over to what is basically hate-mongering and Khadgar levels of stalking which include the use of addons to ferret out a players alts, and he claimed once that he created an addon to ID people who downvoted him, because people kept downvoting him. I think myself that was bullshit on his part as I've never seen such an addon.

But since the topic came up here, if you want the "worst". It's not 4Chan. It's Zan. He is a textbook case of the worst the internet has to offer. From his Tumblr (what you didn't think he wouldn't have a Tumblr did you? Lol) to his actions on WoW, he carries within him the most irredeemable qualities of Millenials. While not all Millenials are thankfully like him, it can be said that if you want intolerance and a desire to shut people down and burn them? He's got it in spades.

IMHO the worst the Internet has to offer is Zan and his following. Zan does NOT deliver. Avoid. Also if he reads this, I'll be blunt. It's out of respect for his few good qualities and our former friendship that I am not listing his alts and character names.

I don't think random access to illegal content constitutes a crime though. It is only a crime if you open an illegal content purposefully, AFAIK.

You still can get into trouble and have to prove that you didnt open it purposefully. I would prefer not loading that CP picture into the cache just by browsing the site without clicking anything .

Chances for this happening are quite low but still not something you would want to have on your hard drive when it happens.
