That's cruel and politically nonviable. Providing a path to citizenship is the only way to go.

You know what else is cruel. Invaders coming here taking jobs, driving down wages, taking more in welfare, paying less in taxes, and generally ruining the future for Americans. No, path to citizenship. The only path they need it an escort to the other side of the wall.

    Yes.......
Right. Which candidate is proposing to kick them out?

How are they taking jobs? A lot of times they do jobs which other Americans won't do. Haven't you seen articles proving how valuable they have been to the economy?

Yeah, gathering up 12 million people and removing them from the country, then preventing them from reentering the country is certainly feasible.

Short term it will cost a lot. Long term it will pay off in spades.

It's not only the extremely expensive cost, it's also about practicality. It is far more realistic to create a path to citizenship for hard-working families without a history of crime, than to build a wall, gather up every illegal, and place them on the other side of it. And a lot cheaper.

Which is only more incentive for Mexico to stop outsiders from using their country as an intermediary.

The United States needs a negative flow of immigration. Not more immigrants.

This is not backed up by studies though. IIRC Borjas argues for changes in the current way immigration works, not that immigration in general is harmful. Welfare problems can be solved by denying them acces to it, during a limited amount of time, citizenship gives them more bargaining power for wages which in turn solves the problem of slave wages, as well as generating more tax revenue.

Accepting asylum claims is certainly the right thing to do. There can be no debating that. At this point a new strategy is needed and part of it needs to be an expedited process to citizenship.
You should send an application to Correct the Record, you need to be getting paid to do this....hopefully somewhere else.

I'm a decent person. Normal is obviously in the eye of the beholder. My views are mostly in line with the leader of Canada, Mr Trudeau. It's the "others" on here who are out of line.
