The reason we chicken fry cube steak is because it's cheap trash. If you go sirloin or above, their is only one way to cook and eat it in Texas - on a grill. And you better not put steak sauce or A-1 on that motherfucker or you will be shot.

It's not called chicken fried steak where I'm from, so that would probably be why. I thought chicken fried steak was breaded with seasoned flour and fried. Cube steak gravy doesn't have a breading, as the steak is flash fried first (after being rubbed down in salt and pepper) and then the gravy made from the residual oils.

I'm aware. Cube steak is typically used for CFS here, which is why I asked, and it's also typically served with the same gravy used on biscuits and gravy.

I'm aware of that. But Chicken Fried Steak is made with Cube Steak. In other words, CFS = Cube Steak, Cube Steak =/= CFS.

And now you're making me want cube steak.

We don't have that over here (Canada). Looks rather a diner (mid-day) meal to me.

It would be similar to to schnitzel or veal parmesan in treatment of the meat.

    o.o Looks tasty!

Anyone mind explaining what I'm actually looking at? Being from the UK, biscuits and gravy in the literal sense means something else entirely xD These look awfully like scones... but I'd never argue against a breakfast food.

As a Strayan "Biscuits & Gravy" threw me off in the definition of Biscuit, the variety of gravy used and the foods included with it. I did give it a try though, and while I didn't mind it, it tasted too fatty for regular consumption.

Yes, the american 'biscuit' is a scone by our definition.

The gravy is still gravy, just a type that we're not used to.

Silly Brits. Come to the South and we'll feed you some real food.

See what you gotta do is scramble the eggs, cook up some crits, and some sausage (type doesn't matter but fry it in a skillet) and then mix is all together. Add some biscuits and gravy on the side.

Yes, biscuits and gravy, good or cheap, I almost like them all. Even the cheap store brand pillsbury style biscuits with gravy are good to me. I'm not too picky when it comes to biscuits and some gravies.

I don't much care for breakfast style chicken thick gravy though. That shit about makes me gag no matter who makes it.

I like it when it has sausage in it. But it has to be seasoned. When people try to make "low salt" gravy, I am just scandalized.

You're looking at a "scone" with a white gravy which is essentially béchamel sauce (link) made with the rendered fat from cooked sausage, and the sausage (according to me) gets re-introduced after the sauce is made.

Edit: The "scone" is savory, not sweet. All of the butter in your kitchen might be involved.
