Question on Relics

I am a Fire Mage (yep, that's me, I'm the only one), currently have 3 830 relics (2x fire, 1x arcane) in my Felo'melorn. However, I looted 2 Frost relics of ilvl 840. First of all, will they actually fit in a Felo'melorn? Secondly, if so, what does '+1 minor trait' mean? And last, is it better to go for ilvl or Felo'melorn specific traits?

Frost won't fit into fire artifact. +1 will show up as specific trait once you are in frost or arcane spec.

Cheers, have put them both in my Ebonchill, which is now 5 ilvls higher than my Felo'melorn, cruel game.
