patchwerks sims are the best

Please tell me how exactly I'm wrong? A Shadow priest is not a healer. It's a DPS spec. It should be balanced just like any other spec within that role. You can't switch mid fight, and if anything pure classes gain MORE from having multiple specs than "hybrids"(because pures can adapt their DPS to any fight, whereas a "hybrid" can change to a different role, which is not very commonly useful)
This isn't some absurd 2004 world where hybrid tax is a real thing.
I agree with @DeltrusDisc, Pure DPS classes, should be at the top. 3 DPS specs, at least one of them should make it.
Why should a hybrid class be top?
They are a Hybrid class.
Hybrid; "of mixed character; composed of mixed parts."
The ability to also Tank or Heal on that class is their own niche. Just because a class CAN be a DPS doesn't mean that it should be one of the best, right along side the PURE DPS classes.

To me sims are more reliable than raid logs. Raid log numbers are always skewed by the top tier players all playing the same cookie cutter spec. By the time you get down to one of the other specs of a class, you're looking at a player who plays what they want to and doesn't bother with min/maxing or all the other nonsense and is also most likely on a lower skill level. You may see one spec dominating the chart and another one not showing up at all until way down the list. Does that mean that the specs are really that far apart? I say, no, it does not and has proven time and time again to not be the case. Sims will give the best possible max numbers for each spec and that is far more useful to me as a point of reference than raid logs are.

The pure DPS classes already have the advantage of having 3 DPS specs, so those 3 specs shouldn't also all be at the top. Generally, yes, one of those 3 will end up at the top because they get 3 tickets in the balance lottery, but it shouldn't just be that way because they're "pure" DPS classes.
Hybrid classes are NOT healers while in DPS spec, if anything that healing spec is a disadvantage because it's not a DPS spec they can change to for certain fights. Really, it doesn't matter which other specs your class has. When you're playing a DPS spec, you should be balanced by the same rules as any other DPS spec. That goes for pures too, all 3 of their specs should be balanced by those same rules as well.
100k difference between top and bottom just shows how autistic Blizzard devs are. Pathetic.
Yes they have an advantage of having at least one of their specs being in the top for damage, as they should. if someone chooses to play a PURE DPS spec, they should be able do competitive damage with that class. So it defenity should be that way just because they are playing a pure DPS spec.
If you choose to play a Hybrid class, you have the ability to play either a Tank or a Healer, or both with some classes. The ability to be able to swing between DPS/Tank/Heals can be far more useful to some raid groups than a pure DPS. Not to mention, more groups look for a Tank/Healer or queue times.
So don't act like just because someone chooses a Hybrid class, they should get the Damage of a pure DPS class, but still get the perks of playing a Hybrid, that wouldn't make it a hybrid.

Yes, just like every other DPS spec should do competitive damage, because otherwise what's the point in it being a DPS spec at all? And no, being able to change to healer/tank is much less useful than being able to pick out of 3 different DPS specs for each fight, with each spec also having talents to tailor to those fights.
Very few fights require more than 2 tanks, you only need 1, maaaaaybe 2 people with healing offspecs as well as your 4 core healers. So how exactly is it in any way useful to have that offspec if there's no room for it? Meanwhile a rogue can play Outlaw for AoE, Assassination for priority target burst or Assassination for sustained damage(or whatever the spec breakdown looks like atm), making them more powerful than the "hybrid" DPS that can only handle 1 of those fight types at most.
You keep going on about "perks" of being a hybrid, but in the actual game pures have more perks. Dungeon queues don't help you do more damage in a raid or get you a raid spot. What gets you a raid spot is being able to deal with many fight types, which pures can do way better than "hybrids". That's why rogues have historically been the most common melee DPS(along with absurd cheesing abilities), mages/hunters/locks have pretty much always been the most common ranged DPS, once again because of that versatility that "hybrids" simply do not have.

As with the last thread, not accurate or useful right now
