I'm guessing those, however, are not in the first rush of a new expansion, with immense populations competing for limited nodes? Nor with a ton of guilds all pushing heavily on raiding progression?

That will all skew the perception of how farmable things are, a lot. More people, relatively, need flasks/food/potions that would never have used them in BC, and we're not dealing with servers at equilibrium. The herb nodes/recipes are (likely) balanced around being most sustainable with T3 in all your herbing skills, as well as the Alchemy skills. Not everyone has those now, and it will be a while before things equal out.

This expansion was intended to be a relatively slow start with professions, relative to BC and Wrath. I remember Wrath's launch in particular with professions, and herbs being insanely expensive.

I have a couple more gold missions sitting there waiting on people to come back. At the moment, I am easily maintaining two characters and if I could probably keep up with upto 8-10.
You won't. I'm running five and I already gave up, you run out of order resources after a few days and it's too much work.
You can run a handful easily, and it'll net you a few k per day. But that time right now is far better spent simply farming [insert profession here], all of which is 15-20x more profitable per hour spent.

    Is it though?

    I mean, really?

The process of herb gathering is really painful due to no flying.
You have to bother with this stupid moutaineous terrain and aggroing everything on the way.

Especially fjarnskaggle is painful cos Stormheim looks like Storm Peaks. Except YOU CANT FLY HERE!!!! WHY!!!

WHY WOULD ANY HERBALIST BOTHER if the prices were low?

It's a royal pain to farm these things, that's why their prices are so high.

WOD garrison pinata is over. No more 2g each mats , EVER.

Even after the blood vendor the prices are going to be 10x higher than in WOD.

There is no need for raiders of any skill level to be using expensive consumables on every pull. Once you start to use consumables in a sane manner, not such a big deal.

Meanwhile I've averaged 50k profit per day, every day, of Legion, with 20 minutes of "crafting" from a single L100 character. *shrug*

You can try to force a profession to be profitable, or you can take profits where you find them. Guess which works better.

I think November is actually somewhat likely for once.

If they try to push it off till January the virtual economy of mats is going to crumble as players will slowly drift away from the game. They took drastic measures to address mat issues in WoD but this time they are dragging their feet.

The number of players who are buying 2k rare gems suggests to me that this drift is not even remotely close to happening.

It suggests to me that a lot of people hoarded a crapload of gold in WoD, and now they're giving it to me.

The prices are ridiculous so yeah, I bought an extra account to bot on so I can pay for my raid consumables.
Blizzard fucked up the economy in WoD with garrisons while content drough lasted, so we who didn't bothed playing during that (who in the right mind would?) didn't farm milions. I started Legion with 5000g on my character...
Now I'm doing it MY way.

I could take those and turn them in for a total of 4,000 fjarnkskaggl. That sounds like a lot but I sell 400 per day from gathering. Assuming I kept posting them I'd be out of that "stock" in a little over a week, but I certainly wouldn't have replenished 200 bloods in a week. Just sayin.

There might be a temporary price reduction on the AH while everyone blows their stash of bloods and tries to sell the crafting mats... but it won't last long. All that stuff will get consumed by a couple of weeks of raiding, and then it will be a gatherer's market again.

Try to farm Bloods in a good mythic dungeon group. Very fast.
