Just go for all the buffs and it will help you out more in the long run.

It's the easiest thing ever haha, done a full clear on my first run (everything except the room that requires 2 withered beserker)
On my second run got all the items i needed and around 700 score (finished with about 50 withered)
I just let my withered stay on mayhem through the whole thing, nothing is a threat. Done it today and no longer spawning any chests, got all the items i needed on my second run - assume the chests don't spawn once you have the items?
650, I cleared it all except the first room, I got up to 40 withered following me, cleared it then went back and I didn't have the second berserker to open it. I should have opened it at the beginning and skipped it till the end.
I forgot about those buffs til I got on my rogue to do it. It was so deceptive. My BM hunter full clears it every chance. Still no fox mount thing :/ That's all I want anyway.
This. Your first few runs in there should not be about getting high score, especially if you are not one of the EZmode tank classes. You need to go open those chests - make it your mission to open a 10 withered chest each time for your first 3-4 runs. Get the buff that stops them from running away. That helps a lot with the annoyance factor. Get the health and attack and berserkers etc. Over on Wowhead quest comments for the scenario, people have posted maps listing the locations of each chest so you can focus on getting to one of them each time.
After that, with your army all buffed up, killing the named (especially Dro) and elites gets a crapton easier, even if you are a squishy class.
Be sure you take 20 in each run. Get HandyNotes and go collect all the upgrades so you can have 2000 ancient mana. Go farm the mana in Suramar City, or if you are an herbalist, it will be coming out your ears anyway as you often get several mana off each single starlight rose.
ETA: Be sure to feed the 3 nightfallen before you go in, for their buffs. Thalryssa's in particular is helpful. My first Dro kill I was affected by the bug, he spawned in the wrong place while I was already fighting a huge pack of crap. Thalryssa's bubble went off and basically killed him for me. LOL. (Now he seems to spawn in the right way, for me at least.) Still bubble could be useful for Elfbane.

I don't really mind, but this topic has strayed very far from the original question I asked.
So far it seems that toys can be in every chest and it's enough to go in with 400 mana and immediately stop the run since the points only affect the reputation gains. The 'definitive proof' is still missing though.
By the way - what's with some of these 'stop crying and just get 400 points' posts? I think I have a very legitimate question here, so you might want to keep your 'you just want to get stuff for doing nothing' posts out of this.
I've already gotten 400+ points 10 times or so. If I don't have to do it again because there are no rewards left, that doesn't have anything to do with wanting to get free stuff. Seriously, guys. Come on.

^ Goes a bit more in-depth to what people have been saying, but the biggest things is knowing what you're going for, knowing what abilities you need to watch for, and keeping at it.
As for the score, I got 416 on an earlier attempt at the scenario and got one of them, so 425 I don't believe is required.
