I'm getting really tired of seeing this line. The country is so polarized the Dems could put up a three week dead goat and it would get 40% of the votes. The GOP could put up zombie Hitler and get 40% of the votes.

There is no candidate on either side that would win by 20 points, much less 50.

And, once again, if your best offense is "well your side just isn't winning by enough so you suck" then you are not doing well.

He did not want to ban gay marriage (he pretty much said that has been "resolved" by the court) and he was already shifting on abortion. So knowing that he was already less extreme on both issues during the GOP primaries and understanding that he would have to shift even more during the generel, yes, I think Hillary VS Kasich would be hard choices... on most topics they would be similar... both moderate republicans, one is just more likable and less shady.

The only difference is that Hillary pretends to be a liberal, and Kasich outright says he is a moderate republican.
Moderate Republicans are still Republicans. The integrity of their party is contingent on pleasing the extremists, ergo even if Kaisch himself is not a dickhead he will be forced to gravitate to policies that are.

A great example of this in action is in Ohio Kasich passed a bill that banned all funding towards Planned Parenthood earlier this year to appease the extremist in his party.

considering that im about as alt right as it gets, I think i quality as far right.
I can tell you whole heartedly that an end to planned parenthood is not what i or anyone that i know wants.

kasich doesn't know which way the wind is blowing.

Hardly. Even if they were similar, the Presidency does not exist in a vaccuum - the choice is more than obvious to people that aren't obsessed with political agnosticism for its own sake.

'People who care about corruption' are shit out of luck because no candidate in the current electoral system is going to fit their bill.

Just because people have opinions doesn't make their opinions, you know, informed.

As for me, it is not about political agnosticism, I have stances I want to see go forward, and most of them are Liberal. But I do not see Hillary being able to do that, because she tends to be the status quo. I voted for Obama because I thought he would change things... but his choices... of the ACA, instead of a Public Option/Medicare for all, etc, has soured me on the status quo. They seem to lack vision.

So if it is two lackluster status quo politicians, and one is more likable, it is like picking chocolate or vanilla. They are both pretty much "safe". Kasich is no Bush, or Trump.
Are you seriously so dense as to think their political party has no bearing on their decision making process?

Which is why the GOP in Congress have tried to do exactly that this year.

The Washington Post wrote up a good piece about why Mike Pence decided to stay. They gave three options:
    1) He had nowhere to go anymore. If he loses, he has nothing left.
    2) He might not be able to, due to early voting
    3) He's 100% into Trump's plan and never really considered leaving after all.

Fair enough, but Preibus just came out to say he's still backing Trump too. And options 2 and 3 don't apply to him. So...this could be the end of the head of the RNC as we know it.

Ultimately that doesn't matter since overturning Citizens United is something that will have to be done by, you know, Congress.

There is a reason why a lot of Republicans like Hillary. She is a moderate republican. If we are talking about people, I do not see a big difference between her, and John Kasich. Both vanilla moderate republicans, the only difference is one is more likable. If you are talking about the Party Platforms, I agree there are huge differences...
Then it shouldn't be a 'hard choice'. Grow a spine.

That appears to be the Post's evaluation as well.

    Also, here's the Priebus piece.

"Nothing has changed in regard with our relationship. We are in full coordination with the Trump campaign. We have a great relationship with them. And we are going to continue to work together to make sure he wins in November."

I'm not even sure what people mean by the label any more. That they express too much focus on the interests of the wealthy and corporations? That's not "corruption", that's a business-oriented focus. I disagree with it, ideologically, but it's not "corruption". The stuff the DNC did during the primaries? Also not "corruption"; just a private entity (the DNC) who wanted its leader to be a long-time member, not an outsider who was only running under their ticket to get more backing. Totally within their rights and not at all a problem. Bribes? There's no evidence of any, or any pay-for-play, or whatever.

Corruption exists, but I'm not sure people actually know what it looks like any more. People tend to use it for "doesn't do exactly what I want them to and nothing more".

Donny is down 11 points in the polls, being down 6 points on labor day, a month ago, would be considered a no win situation, this is far later and much deeper of a pit he has to climb out of.

It's just a buzzword, much like 'socialist', 'insider', or what have you.

I used to be considerably more pro-democracy before I came to the United States, which is the truly sad thing.

Let's not forget that the worst the emails ever reached was spitballing bad ideals that were shot down by the chair, and the chair was Wasserman-schultz. It played really well for republicans to keep pulling it up for Bernie supporters to get off the Democrat train.

With the exception of Kelly Anne who does the spin doctor dance for the money and power, these people actually believe every word of what they say. Humans typically look for any information that confirms their ideals and opinions while disregarding anything that doesn't fit their bias. Humans are fascinating when it comes to politics, it brings out the worst even in voters.

I'm reaching a little here, but I've always been a little concerned with Trump and his polling - especially in the Primaries where he won a few outright when he had been polling way behind.

Can someone explain to me why all across the globe Trump is seen as a clown and only Americans seem to see him as a serious candidate for presidency? Im really curious as why everyone sees a lunatic and a liar, and republicans go "YEAH THATS OUR GUY!"... the fa?
