    When isis is defeated...

What will the US do in Syria? They are currently supplying Al nusa with weapons which are the same people who did 9/11. I just don't understand how the US can be seen as the good guys in this conflict?

When Isis is defeated, another group of moderate beheaders will take their place. US will never run out of targets for their bombs.

The US will help arm and train the next version of ISIS that will turn on us in a few years and the cycle will continue. 2025s Al-Qaeda.

Well we keep making them, both the bombs and the targets.

ISIS will never be defeated, the generals know as much and have told the politicians as much.

We would have to completely change the way we fight war and redefine the engagement to have any chance at "winning."

According to this line of thinking, the US would already be in Syria full force and have declared it an immense humanitarian cause, etc...

No we'd just have to stop supplying and funding them, so our weapons manufacturers can keep those profits coming in.

The US has been doing things like this since at least the 1940s. It is the real reason so many people in the Middle East hate us.

Heck, this isn't even the first time we've supported anti-government forces in Syria. In 1949, we likely supported Husni al-Za'im in his coup d'etat. In return, he helped us out with things like the Trans-Arabian Pipeline, and signed an armistice with Israel.

Move onto the next issue of the world. Maintain freedom and security for those that need/request it. People just seem to like and see the U.S as this big bad that causes shit just to get a kick outta it.

ISIS won't be defeated anytime soon, especially if Clinton wins.

Ever notice how all the countries in the middle east that are in shambles now tried to get away from the US Petro-dollar?

Also, watch the documentary Bitter Lake if you want some good insight into where the mujahadeen/al-qaeda/isis ideology came from (hint: its based on Wahabism via the Saudis combined with US/UK involvement since the 40s).

Nobody's really there to defeat ISIS. Syria right now is a political mess; from reasons relating to the petrodollar, to getting rid of Assad just to help Israel's dominance, and now basically an extension of the Cold War.

If the neocons achieve their goal in Syria without having it escalate to nuclear with Russia, they'll probably be going for Iran in the next years after, which is going to be even messier. The warmongering in the Middle East will continue unless the USA will go for a non-interventionist foreign policy -- which 100% will not happen under a Clinton presidency.

Defeating ISIS is a goal, but as Syria was a key Russian ally in the Eastern Mediterranean/Middle East region, there is no rush.

The real problems with stability in that region come from Saudi Arabian Wahhabism, which we will turn a blind eye to for as long as Saudi Arabia is relevant and once they become irrelevant, guess who will suddenly start getting condemned for their human rights abuses and terrorism support? That won't be for a long while yet though.

The Middle East is located in a strategically important location, so unless they work out a way to move it somewhere else, then it will continue to be a battleground as it has been since recorded history began.
