Well clearly that is why he has spent more time stuck inside that embassy that he would have gotten under Swedish law if he was outright convicted of rape, which if you investigate the case he likely would have not.

His plan was that if he hid and made up all the scary nonsense about the US being out to get him that Sweden would lose interest, it failed.

As it stands though he is still winning, he has outlasted the Swedish statute of limitations for rape charges so they can no longer be brought. And he has spent four years under self imposed house arrest which is better than the 2-6 years in prison he would have got if convicted.

The only thing he faces if he leaves now is the charge for jumping bail in the UK (and Sweden still has extradition pending to question him over expired allegations).

It's much the same with Bill Cosby's history of sexual assault; the individual victims don't really have much of a platform to share their accounts from, but when such a platform presents itself, then it's all going to come out. That's not actually true, they didn't refuse, they just cannot give him protection from extradition because he already has it automatically as Swedish law prohibits the extradition of people for political crimes, hence why they have previously refused to send the USA more important figures than Assange. Of course he knew this and demanded something they couldn't give just so he could further claim victimisation.

I think it would be impossible to leave the embassy's connection intact while specifically targeting only him. It would probably have to take the form of malware, and if that were the case he could simply hop on a clean computer. Alternatively, they could shut off any attempts to reach sites that he uses, but if that were the case I'd think he'd be more specific ("The US is cutting off my ability to connect to wikileaks!")

The October surprise has been a thing for a long, long time... save things for near the end to stump your opponent's momentum so that by the time election's come around he's only just recovering from it. The October surprise from the democrats was the Billy Bush tape, and allegations like that always tend to bring things to light (much like the allegations against Clinton brought women out against him).

Going along a similar line, if Trump continues to play by the Russian playbook, there's going to be something massive on November 5th or 6th that slams Clinton hard as a warmonger and liar beyond any doubt, that will be refuted after 3-4 days of close scrutiny but nonetheless sink the election for her. Though this tactic would not be as efficacious compared to how Russia United plays it, simply because of the prominent early voting system in the US.

I'm not a US citizen, I don't live in the US so no, Clinton is not my "hero".
It's not at all wierd that they come out now though. If someone that sexually assaulted you goes out on national tv and says he never did... what he actually said he did in that clip of him saying he sexually assaults women then that might get you a bit worked up. Wouldn't you say?

You might try to just forget it but when that man might actually be the next president you might get that extra push ou needed to come out and talk about it.

This was about Assange though and he wasn't running for president. The women that he allegedly raped contacted the police pretty much right after it happened, not 30 years later.
