Kids will never remember ... when a TV remote was a device which used a spring loaded mechanism to hit a metal bar to emit a certain pitch.
Or mushing margarine around to spread the dye from the dye capsule.
Or ships as a regular passenger service from the US to Europe.
Or American railroads before private passenger lines died out.
Or watching Cronkite report on the Vietnam war every night.
Or Space food sticks, Creepy Crawlers, the Mattel Injector ...

With COVID-19 making its impact on our lives, I have decided that I shall hang in there for my remaining days, skip some meals, try to get children to experiment with making henna patterns on their skin, and plant some trees. You know -- live, fast, dye young, and leave a pretty copse. I feel like I may not have that quite right.
After the dust from praying the copied c64 casette to load had settled, it was time for the joyful frustration of adjusting and toying with autoexec.bat & config.sys to get the last remaining bytes of conventional memory to run that stupid game that required X kilobytes of that, and for which your fancy Y megabytes of extended/expanded memory did no goddamn thing. In short, having a ton of these startup-files and/or the "pro" way of doing with start menus.
Oh, and my favorite of all time. The project of recording your favorite songs from radio (to a cassette) by just randomly pressing record when a then unknown song was about to start, and then rewinding back after you once again realized it was some shit you didn't want to hear in the first place, let alone recording it. The lazier guys like me just borrowed the good mixtapes from friends and copied them, shame on me.
Cabinet TV sets:
Yes, I used to plug a Nintendo into one of those.
'Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers clogged with rotting red
And there they lay I damn me eyes
All lookouts clapped on Paradise
All souls bound just contrarywise, yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
I was chatting to a colleague today about old bands. he knew ones like the stones and guns and roses etc.. but genuinely thought I was making up 'limp bizkit'. he thought I was taking the piss.
EDIT: he's only 18 so barely a babby
"There are no substitutes for violence of action and volume of fire. Move forward and shoot, always forward and shooting. The enemy will choose to fight and die or live and run either way move forward and shoot and he will fear you absolutely."
