[Resto] BiS Trinket Discussion - Pre-EN, EN, & NH

    Greetings fellow resto druids,

I've created this thread in hopes of in-depth discussion regarding each available trinket and the weights behind the theorycrafting choices and your own personal choices.

Here are what I personally feel are BiS, I prefer static stat trinkets and trinkets the proc absorbs or heals rather than stats. I also believe on-use trinkets can prove to be powerful but can also be hit or miss on potential. I'm looking for discussion regarding the ones I choose vs your own choices:

    Pre-Emerald Nightmare -
    Naglfar Fare ilvl 840+
Int/Haste Trinket from World Quests ilvl 840+

My choices here are simple. Absorbs rule the healing world and crit isn't horrible so I have preference for Naglfar Fare. The Int/Haste is just for pure BiS stats.

    Emerald Nightmare -
    Vial of Nightmare Fog
    Padawsen's Unlucky Charm

Again, absorbs rule all & pure stats.

    NH -
    Aluriel's Mirror
    Etraeus' Celestial Map or
Perfectly Preserved Cake for specific boss fights and/or capable fellow raiders

This is where it gets interesting and I would like to hear your perspective the most.

Mirror is another hot and more AoE healing. Unless the proc rate is garbage, I feel this trinket will be amazing. Map is a proc of stats, which can be useless if it procs at the wrong time, and Cake can be powerful but people have to click it to be useful. I've thought that Vial or Charm might actually be better up until a Mythic version of either of those two trinkets drop.

    What are your thoughts/choices?

I really enjoy using chrono shard, gives int which is nice but also a huge haste proc.

completely depends on the fight imo, for instance on use int trinkets like obelisk of the void or moonlit prism and active trinnkets like bottled hurricane are going to be insane in on-off fights like ursoc or the ramped up dot after the tank swap in 4drakes, but mediocre on others

static trinks are great for spot-healing or sustained damage, same with 7th spine or the darkmoon card trinket (I'd probably consider naglfar in this category too since it's basically a very frequent small extra heal)

all the int with proc trinkets from dungeons (flask of the solemn night, chrono shard etc.) great if they line up well and can sometimes help carry you to stopping a death which is your job, but some pulls the procs will just come when you don't need them at all

same going onward but at least the trinket pools are smaller in raids, just try and get what you can and always be willing to switch back if you think something else might help some more while progressing on a fight (and you can swap back if you feel it does worse)

    onward to EN-----

horn of cenarius - stacked burst healing (ursoc, renferal nyth, xav p2/3, idk about mythic), mastery isn't looking all too great in EN from what I've seen in heroic and normal so far though, but if you're using spring blossoms on a fight, this could be really nice

heightened senses- like any proc trinket it's insane if the proc lines up when you need it as a healer, but can be totally shit on some other pulls too, fortunately you only need 1 good pull to kill a boss

vial of nightmare fog- this is basically a math trinket, like naglfar, it's just small extra heal procs on random targets, and how good it is entirely on the proc rate and it's essentially a math problem as to whether or not it's good, so I'm holding all judgement for now, but it looks alright

cocoon- an insane amount of int and a nice mana restore that gives you 35k extra mana a minute (heroic version) at max usage for mana dumping at some point in the fight, there are some fights where it's going to be too dangerous to use though, especially at the start of progress when you're unfamiliar with a boss, but I still think I'd call it overall #1, although top guilds may avoid it, cause you seriously do lose a small portion of damage to avoid the enrage with from it and they often cut it real close on enrages unless the healing check will be really bad, cause it can add up to near 50s of inactivity a fight

---------cocoon will probably be completely unusable on the boss it drops from and possibly xavius as well if corruption is going to be as tight as I think it'll be on him in mythic as you won't just be able to eat a red puddle so it's a bit rng there (maybe cenarius too, but I feel like some great guild will make a strat that will make cenarius a joke), but even if you have to click out of it (or /cancelaura) early, it's still going to do pretty well

-trial of valor (no loot listed yet afaik)

    -Nighthold:
Perfectly Preserved Cake- theoretically insane if there's a good fight for it, it'll really depend on the use range and if it makes dps change target or cancel autos/casts though (and if your guild actually clicks it)

Ephemeral Paradox- looks really good but once again up to math on the proc chance

Aluriel's Mirror- If the detonate or replicate is a smart proccing mechanic and it never detonates while spread out and only makes the hot copy out, I think this is a great and at the least interesting to use and track trinket (idk if it'll count as a hot for our mastery though or benefit from it even)

Celestial Map- rng on top of rng for days and days, it's interesting though, I'll give it that, but out of all the trinkets I've seen this xpac, this is probably the one you don't want (except in mythic+ dungeons)

currently using Chrono shard 840 ilvl 1123 intellect. can proc 4926 haste rating for 10 secs (15% speed too but fk that)

    and

Flask of the Solemn Night Mythic 4 . 850 ilvl - 1233 intellect can proc 6640 haste rating where it loses 320 haste rating each sec, for 10 secs.

Yesterday I got 865 vial of nightmare fog and it gave me about 7% heal in mythic dungeon later. Haven't tried it in raid yet, but this numbers look very promising

I'm using this both too but my Chrono is 845 and my Flask 850 and I don't feel like I wanna change this ever... I know mythic trinkets from Dragon will be better thatn this ones but... I don't think I will change any for an heroic trinket atm. Wil aim to get this on 870, just got a couple M+10 done this week, just need some luck

I'd just like to say that apparently the darkmoon: promises shit I read on wowhead had a bugged tooltip for 7/7 850 ilvl was actually wrong apparently and the thing gives 460-1840 off, which is wayyy better than what I said above (1150 off each cast on average, meaning about on average 5.2% of rejuv's cost)

so for healing classes like ours or paladins, that are using more casts, it's pretty fantastic, but the main part of it is still going to be the int, but it's going to be like an extra instant mana pot on shorter fights and on longer ones like xavius or cenarius, it works multiplicatively with the mana restoring functions giving you up to like 200-300k on those fights

and I'd say all that extra mana is probably going to outperform secondary stats on other trinkets, yeah though I think it'll continue to do well up to nighthold, but that's in part due to trinkets and the difference in between them being shit this xpac rather than the trinket itself being good

I picked up heroic Heightened Sense and heroic Vial of Nightmare Fog last night, had a trash world Q and normal mode Cocoon of Enforced Solitude before. I don't think I'll be using cocoon for much mythic progression since the mana regain is frankly just too weak for how unreliable it is to sit on your ass for 10 seconds every 2 minutes. They probably don't want cocoon to be so strong that every healer needs it to sustain their mana (supported by the big slap of passive INT to compensate for its on-use), but as is I consider it a niche pick-up unless they buff the mana regain or make it possible to channel it while moving - alongside a reduction in its passive int.

Vial of Nightmare Fog in particular seems really strong. I didn't equip it for heroic Cenarius (was wearing tank trinkets 'cause I'm smart) but I suspect the consistent damage across the raid will make it very strong for that fight. On mythic nythendra is did about 3.6% of my total healing, and on mythic Elerthe it was consistently around 5%. From what I can tell its proc is just a very low chance without any from of ICD - it can proc on the same player within as little as 3 seconds from my observation.

Heightened Sense had an uptime around 22% over 13 Nythendra pulls and 14% on 17 pulls of Elerethe. Big swing in uptime, but from what I can see it's fully up to Nythendra just having more consistent casts/min, whereas Elerethe has burst damage followed by damage downtimes. For Nythendra that then puts the average value of the trinket at 986 versa, 396 haste and 900 int. The proc behaviour seems pretty much as described for the Vial of Nightmare Fog, in so far that it seems to just have a relatively low proc chance with no ICD. I have not seen procs overlap, but I have seen new procs occur literally milliseconds from the previous proc expiring.

As far as raid trinkets are concerned I don't really see competition for these two trinkets, but with the variance in mythic+ progression and warforged/titanforged luck the whole comparison kind of goes out of the window. A high ilvl Chrono Shard + neck combo probably means you'll be passing raid trinkets to your co-healers, and similar story might be true if you have trinkets like a high ilvl Flask of Solemn Might.

I know, it's restricted to alchemists, but what about an upgraded Alchemist Stone?

Do the procs from Naglfar Fare and Vial of Nightmare Fog stack?

    Hi all,

I do have a good dilemna.

I have currently three trinkets :

Obelisk of the void, 850 Ilvl

    Heightened sense 875 Ilvl

Vial of nightmare fog 850 Ilvl with haste gem

Which combo would you use ?

With Vial and Heightened sense equiped, i have around 29% haste and only 17% crit.

So Vial is important in my opinion.

It's Heightened vs Obelisk for me... Rng and bigger procs vs on use/1min but you must stay where you are or lost...

    I'd like your opinion !

    @Zwyk
on the start of most fights I'd start out with obelisk and heightened senses, and if one of the effects be it the proc of heightened senses or the on-use of obelisk is doing poorly, I'd swap that one off for the vial or w/e else you have if you have any static stat trinkets in bags
    @Tokkai
and alchemy stones are basically like having a 860-ish static stat trinket (with a little bit of extra potion effect) and aren't as bad as other proc trinkets as the proc is longer and icd shorter (buff isn't as big though), so it can be less infuriating than other proc trinkets by not wasting as much, and it's not that hard to upgrade if you're alchemy either (you can obliterate 5 alchemy trinkets to get a fairly cheap and easy 7 obliterum)

and I have no clue about the procs from vial and naglfar

also do note people that with the 2nd darkmoon fair, deck/card prices are going down a bit (on my server at least) as more people get the rank 3 card recipe and with felwort dropping faster than the .com crash, you might want to look into it as with it being upgradable in 7.1 I could see the deck becoming like the overall best trinket for the nighthold as well

Which would be the top 2 picks here?

    840 Nagalfar Fare
845 Flask of the Solemn Night with a gem slot
    860 Unstable Arcanocrystal

860 Unstable Arcanocrystal and 845 Flask of the Solemn Night with a gem slot. Nagalfar is not the reliable while the other 2 give you a better output overall.

Thanks - that's what I went for, but many people seem to be in love with the shield from Nagalfar, so thought I'd best ask

Now I don't know what difficulty you guys are playing, but I do believe it depends on that.

Currently me and my guild is progressing a lot on mythic bosses, which often results in long fights. Therefore I like the Darkmoon trinket, saves tons of mana. Depending on the fight, I then go for Cocoon or Hightened Senses. I would love to have the dragons trinket, but unfortunately I haven't been lucky enough to get it yet :/

Naglfar would be superior, but not at that ilvl imo.

Chrono Shard & Flask. If you are able to get both on a good itemlevel ... Godlike. Only decent EN trinket is vial. Use vial for either CS or Flask if it is at least 20 ilvl higher.

A good stattick is also viable.

Naglfar seems good but falls really short on fights with a lot of damage ... Or in other words: Anything above HC dungeons.
