I'm kinda disappointed, the first track is kinda dull deathy doom, it's too much run-of-the-mill with not so much of the band's magic...

The second one though, wow, really goes in dry with balls and everything.

Not nearly as good as their previous material overall, sadly ((((. Maybe the first big disappointment this year for me.

Dunno. Hard to explain. I think the old King Diamond stuff is amazing, same with old Mercyful Fate. Matter of taste I guess, but those are bands I grew up with.

Age is also always a deciding factor, definitely. I'm too young for Mercyful Fate to be the music I grew up with. One of the bands I "grew up with" covered one of their song though and I really like it. Take that as you will.
Well yea I guess King's vocals are an acquired taste. Dunno, I somehow really like them. That Egypt is a good song, though the original is much better than that cover.

Of what I got I might frame the two Darkthrones and when I pick up Under a Funeral Moon I'll have that trilogy framed up together. I'm considering framing Nattestid because I love it's artwork

I've become obsessed with Emptiness, this band is something special.

Really hype for the newest one.

Been listening to Portal lately, really wish these guys would release another 25 albums or so.

    The Fresh Prince of Baudelaire

Banned at least 10 times. Don't give a fuck, going to keep saying what I want how I want to.

New Testament released today. Not quite as good as "Dark Roots of Earth" though. Some good tracks, but also some fairly weak ones. Title track is at least nice.

That was great! Full album wasn't posted yet, just one song. Isn't the release of that album only in November though?

Really good and super pretty, on the same level as the debut, better than their previous which suffered from kinda meh production.

    Guess what was also fantastic!

It felt to me like a 20 minute album, time really flew when listening to it.

Yeah I really enjoy that video, the atmosphere and symbolism are unreal which is probably a good part of the whole point. I'm torn between wishing there were more bands like Portal and glad that they're basically one of a kind.

    Because of reasons:

New Metallica track just put up on YT "Atlas, Rise!"

I'm liking it - as a long time, old-school Metallica fan I'm pretty pumped for the new album, the three tracks I've heard so far sound damned good to me.

Thanks for the update on these non-metal bands.

Also, NBBMN starts tomorrow, not sure if I'm going to participate this year as I generally listen to BM most of the time anyways.

New Ulcerate was also pretty awesome.
