Mage Class Hall Mount - Like it or do you want something else?

I've been using the Disc of the Red Flying Cloud since MoP because to me it feels like the most Mage-like mount since flying carpets went out of fashion. So I'm quite satisfied to get a prettier mage themed disc to zoom about on. Reminds me of Tzeentch wizards, and that's a good thing.

It's hard to think a manhole cover is cool when you look at the other mounts.

It's borderline insulting to see a mount without animations or really anything special, it's so generic it's kind of annoying.

Doesn't matter if you like flying discs, this mount is absolutely underwhelming as a class mount compared to the awesomeness most other classes get.

Hell, even the Paladin mount isn't terrible at all for all non-human/dwarf paladins. I've wanted a proper Paladin horse every since they took the charger away from my Draenei Paladin and replaced it with a goddamn ELEPHANT. And I'm sure many a tauren Paladin feels the same. But at least it's something, with textures and a model.

To each their own I guess, I like it personally but the only class that got a mount that really stands out is shaman and considering everyone's going to have it in a week or 2 this is one of those big deals out of nothing people like to make. Everyone's going to be bored of the mounts in no time and once they see a million of them in Dalaran they'll go back to riding around on A'lar, Mimiron's Head and Invincible anyway.

There are things to be annoyed about. Optional mount skins aren't one of them.

I have literally wanted one of these since I first saw them in Wrath of the Lich King, so I'm not upset.

Well I tought it was cool. When I know see thats the arcane version, it even fits! Now, I am a fire mage. If I dont get a very awesome fire phoenix or something(no recolor!) I'd rather take the disc. Or let me fly on a huge firemeteor or ball, that would be cool. Cause we already got balls flowing around the head, and who doesnt like balls. Blue balls og balls on fire, I'll take it.

Mages shouldn't even need a physical mount. Fuck all that. Let them turn into pure Archon energy circa Diablo III and fly through the air like a supreme arcane being. Change the coloring according to the spec (via the recent announcement) and we're golden.

Dev 1: What should we make for mages?
Dev 2: Hrm. I don't know. We gave monks this sick ass tiger mount, priests and druids get sweet owls.
Dev 3: Pallies got another horse...
Dev 2: Hehe. Pallies are dumb.
Dev 1: Welp, I did almost trip over a manhole cover on the way to work today.
Dev 3: Brilliant! We'll make mages a flying manhole cover! Put something glowy on it cause ya know...mages LOVE glowy shit!

I personally would prefer a kind of auto-polymorph into some (perhaps random) beast or dragon... (not necessarily a crow) OR EVEN the mage transforming himself into an [Arcane Barrage] (like the Khadgar tower transport at Zangara)

That's exactly what I was going to say I would prefer. I think it would be awesome if we could transform ourselves into energy related to our current specs.

Either that or a spell that lets us make critters into mounts for the duration of the ride. I would love to fly around on an enchanted pig/sheep/crab/rabbit etc.

I'd say because the rogue mount is a big crow.
