People are acting like the next cinematic is gonna just be a gay sex scene. We don't know how its going to be portrayed other than there will be LGBT representation. For all we know, its a couple seconds of someone looking at a picture of their partner. Why are people already outraged at something that doesn't exist yet?

Making characters in stories gay/tran/whatever randomly just to do it is something to get pissed over. If it actually has a reason to exist in the story, then sure, that's awesome. If it's purely to make your cast more diverse just because, then no, that's stupid and an insult to whatever they may be.

Gay people don't exist for a purpose. We just exist. The same should be true in storytelling.

I'm not going to speak for anybody else but...in my case I am all for more diversity in the media if it's done well and doesn't resolve around stereotypes/virtue signalling. Unfortunately it often does, thus it leads to people finding it tiresome - even if they're part of the LGBT spectrum themselves.

So if it doesn't feel "appropriate" for you then it isn't an earnest attempt at diversity? This "it's just diversity for diversity's sake!" argument gets really stale when you realize that just about any outside perspective is going to find it somewhat uncomfortable because it's just... Not them. I agree that stereotyping and virtue signaling get grating a large portion of the time, but jumping on the Cynicism Bus or complaining about SJW's 'ruining' a game for announcing that they have an LGBT story in mind is hardly a productive venture.

I acknowledged that two things were valid concerns.

First being stereotypical representation. That's not okay, and has nothing to do with the so called "LGBT agenda".

The second being virtue signaling (including LGBT characters just to prove how progressive you are), which in no way can be construed as the so called "LGBT agenda" as it's something done necessarily by someone outside of the LGBT community.

Including LGBT people is not an agenda, it's an accurate representation of the culture we live in. The people who have a problem with inclusion, and give reasoning like "the gay agenda", "forced down our throats", "social justice warrior", those are the people I'm referring to as having homophobic tendencies.

EDIT: To make this simpler, having valid concerns about the way the representation is handled is okay. Being mad that gay people are included is not.

The "you" was meant to be subjective, such as to refer the question to anyone reading. Sorry if it felt like I was going after you specifically, I was just trying to provide further explanation within the context of the other quote I had in that post. Language is a p lousy method of expression :X
