Dems have been moved considerably to the left in the last 10 years, not as much as Reps to the right, I have no idea where this idea of Dems moving right comes from.

Why's that? Bernie had basically none of the negatives that Hillary had, no e-mails, no husband scandals, no trust problems.

Unfortunately yes you actually do have to. If Trump only won with 30% of the vote or some such, then ya, protests and maybe even riots are justified, but he won with multiple EVs and only slightly lost the popular vote. That's not nearly enough anti-Trump support to justify contesting the election.

You're joking right? The Trump administration is eyeing Palin for a position in his cabinet, as well as Gingrich, Giuliani, and Christie, as well as a climate skeptic for the EPA.

No democrats thought Hillary would carry out Bernie's agenda, ACA was a huge let down, Obama not holding wall street accountable, glass steagall, the list goes on. The DNC has not moved as far right as the reps but they are nowhere near as liberal as their base, there is a serious disconnect and this election has proven that.

No we don't. They keep crying for validation of their stupid positions because they know that they are bullshit memes as red meat for the base, not real positions for governing.

But they won, it's over, if you fight, you'll become the enemy and cause the division to get even larger. Yes it sucks, but there is no justifiable alternative.

Hey, it's worth holding out some hope while preparing for the worst than to just be depressed over it.

Abortion is murder, climate change is a hoax, cutting taxes does benefit society, and scrapping all the failed liberal progressive policies will do a great deal towards making this country great again. You must be from bizzaro world where it's the opposite of reality.

Sure there is, the truth. The spewing of misinformation can only be stopped by real world examples.

To some extent, of course they will. I expect the next Obergfell challenge to result in gay marriage being overturned. Roe v Wade is likely gone. We know ACA will be replaced probably by nothing functional.

Other things will be a continuation of today. Expect even more tax breaks for corporations and the rich (followed by complaints that we spend too much because we cut the income) and continued shrinking of the middle class. There will be increased government spending (regardless of what people think, Republicans tend to increase spending) and even more borrowing. The mild slowdown in fossil fuel growth will go into overdrive...so expect the massive increase of earthquakes that Oklahoma has been facing to happen in a lot more states.

All studies consistently show Dems moving left and Reps right. Unlike before, the right most Dem is well to the left of the left most Rep. And parties are always more centrist than their members simply because they need to reach beyond them to win.

See @Rick Magnus, we must reject this line of thinking. It has poisoned too many people already.

Bernie is just too much to the left, elections are usually won by the more centrist candidate. And socialisms is still a dirty word for many in the US.

My thought (and hope) though is that with repubs across the board, they have no one to blame but themselves if things turn sour. If they do too much damage, upset too many people, they risk losing it all in four years, rather than holding back a little and keeping the positions.

cutting txes only helps if people dont hoard their money. Rich people dont spend more than they need to, and the middle and lower classes wil use thta new money to save for a rainy day fund rather than spend.

    so..

yeha. trickle down doesnt work since it runs counter to human behavior in light of financial stresses.

The problem is though that by making a big deal of it, you risk turning people more off your message making it even harder to win in 2020/24.

I think Trump kind of gave a middle finger to that type of thinking. Hell some of Trumps older ideas basically were socialism, I'm very interested to see if he actually does get government negotiating drug prices.

The very important difference is that Trump does not call himself socialist. Symbolism is still important.

It's election malpractice that he openly called himself a Socialist in a US election. He would likely be the next president if he didn't do that. If he was too stupid to realize these facts, he was unfit for office.
