Anything that can be done to mitigate the dps falloff on encounters when you have to get away from the boss for periods of time? Was doing Suramar mythics and while the other melee seemed to either keep up part of their rotation even at range or at least be able to zip back to and from the target the moment the coast becomes clear I on the other hand took seemingly forever to and from transit and when I was out of melee range because of boss mechanics my dps fell off a cliff. All I had was judgement and I tend to want to use that only when I'm in melee with full holy power.

You can spec into [Cavalier] that gives 2 charges of Divine Steed. Other than that you will be stuck with using Judg from afar.

Hey guys, I came looking for any advice I can gather on increasing my damage so I decided to post here. We aren't a hardcore progression guild, but I still push myself to the best of my ability. That said I feel like I am still missing some things that can help my DPS (Ursoc for example feels kind of low).

Here is my WoWlogs from heroic tonight.
    https://www.warcraftlogs.com/reports...ght=2&source=8

And my current Artifact tree and some stat related information.
    http://i.imgur.com/ZCAYCtF.jpg

A few thing I am aware of.

-I sometimes cast a Finisher without judgement (off cool down or otherwise) during very hectic moments.
-I feel really sloppy on the Elerethe Renferal, namely Bridge Phase and when to best use Avenging Wrath and Wake of Ashes (I usually save Wake of Ashes for when her small spiders come out, lines up nicely with that part of the fight, but I'm not sure if its optimal.

Any help would be much appreciated, and if you wish to contact me in game feel free. Thanks and have a great day!

hey all, I know there is no static law, but how many ilvls of a relic is wrath of the ashbringer worth over other damage ones such as sharpened edge or deliver the justice? if any at all

    1) I'd recommend simming a couple things. Your secondary stats don't seem ideal. Your haste is kind of sitting between a couple of typical haste breakpoints. I'd also recommend simming Blade of Wrath too. It currently beats out Virtue's Blade for me.

    2) Divine Intervention and Eye for an Eye should help clean up your Elerethe pulls. You can rotate SoV and EfaE on feeding times and almost eliminate the damage. Should help with your Web of Pain deaths. You don't need the second horse on that fight. I personally use DI on everything. Currently 4/7M and I've only died maybe 3-5 times pre-wipe. It's a nice little get out of jail free card. EfaE is also useful on Ursoc. It can be used to reduce charge and roar damage.

    3) On Elerethe, do you have a warlock setting up a gateway from the small middle platform across to the large platform she flies to? If you do, your Crusade should be coming up right when you get over. Use it then. You can basically use it on CD as it seems to line up well with damage windows.

    4) If you don't mind herbing/spending bloods/gold, Potion of the Old War would give you a decent bit of damage.

    5) Try not to might the Demo lock. That class has lower than usual BoM damage. One of the lower DPS DHs would probably give you an extra 800k-1M damage.

  7. #1147
Why is his Crusader Strike and Templar's Verdict hitting so much harder? Itemlevel-wise I should be ahead of his dmg per hit. 4000 Str more should result in much harder hits than 800 Vers., no?

How do you know about Blessing of Might damage differences per spec? Is there a good resource for information about the smartest way to use Blessing of Might? I've only ever put it on the top 2 dps and myself, and I'm usually top DPS.

    Hey Staphantom,

For my own simming I needed to go 30 ilvls higher with Righteous Blade to beat Wrath of the Ashbringer..... Haven't tested the others yet - but its does seems to be around 24 ilvls.

    - - - Updated - - -

Re my DPS - I think I'm doing OK but would like to do better

They are both on normal as having a hard time getting decent PUG HC groups - especially without having curve and being unguilded. Also didn't have the faulty counterweight for the raids as it dropped last night (after 30 tries at HC, mythic, mythic+).

    1) I always pick Top2 DPS and myself or Top3 DPS for my GBOM. Prioritise Warriors and/or highest DPS - except Locks. Always use Countless Armies flask, Azshari Salad, Potion of the Old War and Augment Rune.

    2) I have two Ashbringer relics (835 & 845) so Crusade has 32.5 seconds. I have 855 replacements but they simmed lower.

    3) Zeal and Blade of Wrath sim by far the highest for me even though my crit is over 30%. Although rotation does feel sluggish (at 19.26% haste unbuffed) with lots of dead CD spots, azshari salad and potion of prolonged power (used on trash for example) help to smooth it out a little.

    4) Versatility sims highest (just behind Strength) what a strange world! And I can swap out another 1.5% haste for slight DPS gains but then the rotation feels really awful.

    5) I'm running lots of mythic + and generally seem to do OK - but again I feel I could do better. I've read that for mythic+ I should be using Greater Judgment and Virtue's Blade - is that good advice? Also I tend to use flasks, sometimes Augment runes, good food and prolonged power for mythic+ and wondering if thats padding my damage as I guess most people don't?

    6) My sim dps (patchwerk) is about 350k on good player level. I'm about that but would like to get closer to Elite - but I'm definitely not elite - I don't have the reflexes of you young chaps (i'm 46 :-) )

    Any tips, tweaks much appreciated...

Thanks Dnicks17 for the advice, My blade of wrath and virtues blade actually sim REALLY close to each other. I wanted to ask though, I'm new to simming in WoW and wasn't sure if this is correct. It was to my understanding that for Ret, Hast and Crit were king, but after simming, it seems to tell me a different story.

    https://gyazo.com/d92326e456acdf6192c93b2ebb6f3437

Is this correct? Will my stat priority change as I hit certain thresholds? I also use pawn to help select upgrades, should I sim after a new piece of gear to update Pawn accordingly?

I'm only basing it off experience.

Basic rules would be put it on your top DPS, but avoid pet classes and prioritize arms warriors even when they aren't top dps. Apparently assassination rogues are above average too(not to the same extent as arms warriors), but my guild's rogues haven't gone assassination yet, so I'm not sure on that.

    Yup. That looks right.

Haste will only be your best stat until you hit certain breakpoints. It will likely start going lower in weight when you hit ~20-22% haste. That's where most rets sit now.

Crit is also really good(especially with Virtue's Blade), but it has diminishing returns. You'll get to a point where Vers will pass it. I'd recommend trying to get your hands on as much Vers gear as possible. Vers is fairly rare on plate and will likely end up being your best stat by a large margin as you gain ilvl.

Yeah. Ret is definitely a spec where you need to sim after every new piece. It's very finicky with breakpoints. It's honestly pretty time consuming if you want to find your ideal setup because you'll have to sim with your new item and then swap in multiple older pieces of gear to check other breakpoints and then do that for TFoJ/VB, TFoJ/BoW and Zeal/BoW.

If you don't want to go too HAM, you can probably just try to keep your crit at 30-35%, your haste at 20-22% and then maximize your versatility for best results.

Questions, concerns, expectations: I'm dpsing in Legion as a Ret Pally and I'm having a little issues with dps constancy. I can easily do a burst of 300k in one target fight, but when I look overall my dps is always near 190k. Really don't know what I can do to improve it, I had a complete revamp of stats (I was advised to focus Haste till 22% > Crit = Vers > Mastery). Thank you in advance.
Description of Playstyle: The rotation I usually do is: (burst) Crusade, Greater Judgment,
if AoE: Wake of Ashes - Divine Storm - Crusader Strike - Divine Storm - Blade of Justice - Crusader Strike - Divine Storm
Single Target: Blade of Justice - Crusader Strike - Templar's Verdict or Justicar's Vengeance when low life Wake of AshesWake of Ashes to fill Blade of Justice cd

Firstly I would say that you can definitely drop your Haste right down - depending on your sims (more on that later).
I would imagine that you'll probably sim higher stacking Versatility > Crit.

Justiciars Vengeance is a big DPS loss - especially more without Divine Purpose to gift you procs. I'd suggest using it only in the most extreme circumstances or ideally drop it all together for Eye for an Eye. This is even more true if you've reached Echo of the Highlord on your artifact tree.
Templars Verdict should be doing at least 10% - 15% more of your overall damage.

Possibly consider Zeal over The Fires of Justice - again dependent on your sims.

Right now your haste is more than high enough so use Versatility or Crit food, Flask of Countless Armies and Potion of the Old War or Prolonged Power (cheaper) on the Crusade Zergfest. Enchant neck with Hidden Satyr (if you can afford it), and enchant rings.

If you have a WQ trink with Vers/Crit you may also see a benefit swapping that in. Icy Veins has a pretty accurate listing of trinkets here.

I'd suggest running Vault of the Wardens Mythic for the Faulty Countermeasure Trinket and Darkheart Thicket/BRH for the Wrath of the Ashbringer relics.

Overall though I really recommend that first you get into the habit of simming your character using SimulationCraft https://www.simulationcraft.org/. Also install the SimulationCraft addon from Curse.

Once you've downloaded and run the program > options > Scaling, Enable Scaling then select the stats you want to compare. The results will show you your stat weighting so you can see what to change. I'd also sim tweaks to talents to get your optimum spec and of course gear you want to swap in.

I'm about 4 ilvls higher than you and the above tips (from this forum and SimulationCraft) helped me immensely - you can see my logs a few posts back.

I agree with tyrion, your haste is pretty high and your vers is too low. I would focus on getting vers up more.
When it comes to trinkets, its best to have an on-use such as Horn of Valor from HoV, or Faulty Countermeasure from VoW, then grab a stat stick. Then make sure to use the on use with your crusade. You can also check out the ret sticky and its got a legit chart of whats what when it comes to trinkets.
I would also recommend changing your opener for ST. Mine is WoA>Crusade/Judge/Trinket>TV>CS>TV>BoJ>TV etc. I do this because it allows you to get a 2nd WoA at full crusade power which is a pretty big hit. Like he said though, simming yourself is the best way to see whats going on and what your lacking on.
    Best of luck mate!

Hey guys, so I seem to be parsing very low compared to other rets on many fights and i've tried to analyze my own logs but am pretty inexperienced in it. Just looking for ways to increase my overall damage output and get better as a ret. Let me know what you think I can/should do differently. I know that Crusade didn't line up with lust, it was progress and they never had a set time for lust...just whenever it was called for...

Last week, 95th percentile on Ursoc.
This week, same fight, 65th percentile. I'm at a loss for what I'm doing wrong other than not having a cloak.

    @MarshallX

Wlogs suggests it was 77% last week at 59% this week: https://www.warcraftlogs.com/ranking.../10/#boss=1841

This weeks Ursoc kill was longer than last weeks, the closer the kill is to 4:30 the higher the pass as it will mamximise Crusade up time. Other than that nothing's really changed, although you only potted once.

  20. #1160
Prepot doesn't show up on the log because it's a prepot. I potted twice for sure.

Anything I can do to even improve on 77%? I feel like I'm not missing much....
