WoW is MMO, so it means you have to socialize with other players. /thread

Why do we need LFR - normal - heroic - mythic ? It's laughable and it shows just how much this "be social" pillar is messy all around
How do you think removing guilds would help?

These days, I am what some people call "LFR hero", but I still play in a guild I used to raid with, to keep in touch with those people as one family. It is nothing but a great boon that I can ask people of the guild to join me, be it in LFR or Mythic dungeons.

A good MMO has a healthy balance of group content and solo content, and Legion already improves that balance by a lot, with greater advantage to those who choose to group up (in form of better item level loot, and less RNG needed for better item level Warforged/Titanforged upgrades), not to mention the first dibs on unique rewards such as mounts, titles, transmogs that solo-aligned will not get until many expansions later, which is the price to pay, but far better than just removing the rewards after Legion, which removes most of the replayability of the said content.

I know people who certainly are not social and they play the game pretty happily and their power level (gear) matches their eagerness to socialize.

Greater question is, why do you think Blizzard isn't already furthering this game from "must socialize and commit to a schedule" attitude and towards the "multiplayer game with an option to socialize further" ideology?

This thread is the perfect example of the entitlement of the LFR crowd. Simply because they are unwilling or unable to enter normal+ content, they feel entitled and thus no one should have something better than them for more effort.

    Whattadda know!?

13-15$ a month doesn't entitle anyone to anything. The only thing it actually entitles you to is access to your account and the ability to log into the servers. THATS IT.

Ok assuming you are correct, then how? How will it "become once again a pioneer in MMO history?" How would destroying social aspects of an MMO do that?

Again, I know this is bait, but if on the small chance that you are actually serious, then get serious with me, and answer me HOW?

Is it not clear? The OP wants everyone to be alone, together with him!
As long as it exists in game and I can solo it, it shouldn't have 100% chance

If it exists and I need to actively find other people to help me get it (and most likely will lose it to one of those people) then it shouldn't exist in its current nature

My 13€ a month entitle me to keep having a guild with which roster I am able to easily socialise and create bonds normal queue playing doesn't promote, and as a core mechanic in both MMO games and fantasy lore, I'd like it to stay put.

    What now?

EDIT: I really thing OP just ragequit his guild because nobody ever wanted to bring him along for raids or M+ and now he's salty about the patriarch- I mean, guild system.

But if I don't talk to people then I can't experience everything my 13$ a month entitles me to
That's your fault for not fully utilizing the service you are paying for. If you want to get all of your monies worth then you need to talk to people.

But this is like having cable and not watching every single channel or not visiting every website on the internet. The options are there but how often do people really use all of them?

    Hi5 mate

I've went to great lengths to explain this already, but I believe Blizzard like you said, is already moving away from this "Guild - community" thing and towards a more modern system where nobody actually has to be social to be successful.

It's not our fault you're what seems like an asocial being who wants to ruin the game for everyone else just because you can't be arsed with interacting with other people on a freaking MASSIVE MULTIPLAYER ONLINE RPG.

As I already told you, go play Skyrim instead.

I'm proudly entitled. I'm very honest about it.

By removing the social shackles we can start working towards a better game where everything isn't based around "be social be successful" paradigm.

I believe that by removing those shackles Blizzard will find the opportunity to improve on LFR-like systems, systems at which even the most hardcore players wouldn't feel left out. I'm no developer and I have no laid out plan on how to implement this, but, I could point out the fact, again that LFR is the most sought out piece of content Blizzard has ever released. Systems like this one would follow the same trend.

By changing this "all mmos must focus on the player being social" paradigm, WoW would become, once again, a pioneer

I've been in a lot of guilds and communities and I know for a fact that people are fake about the reasons they remain there.

Remember TBC where guilds stole players from each other? How can that happen if all the player wants is a social community?

The answer is, they just want epics and perks, that's why they switch guilds

Why do we join guilds to begin with? The answer isn't linear. Everyone will have a different answer enough that we can can call it their own. But that is a lie.

We all know deep down there's only 2 reasons to join a guild: Guild Perks and Epics.

Considering we can now get epics without needing to actively find other players to play with and the content we are going to clear has become easy enough that there is no need for coordination, the only problem here is the few Guild Perks that still remain that forces us to find a guild.

Now that we've established that we're forced to join a guild to be able to play the game to the fullest, a second problem arises. A few people won't agree with this, that's ok. But, once again, this game forces us to socialize.

Why? The truth is, I shouldn't even have to receive /w from other people without my consent so why am I being put into a situation where I have to join a guild to be at the same level as someone else?

I can do everything through LFR, I can experience the lore, I can do my perfect rotation, use my character to my heart's content, so why are guilds needed? We don't need a guild to partake in the LFR experience. It's considered by many the only place where being social isn't required to succeed in this game.

Guilds are holding the game back, if we remove this concept that "being social" is required to be a WoW player, then the devs can improve their game substantially because of it. We can actually start focusing on more real issues such as balance and new mechanics.

When the development of the game revolves around the player being social, when the player doesn't feel like being social, then he can't be the player he wants to be and that defeats the purpose of the RPG part in the MMORPG

What do you think? Should we have guilds or move forward and forget this archaic tool?
You started with non-sense so i stopped reading.

i can see that you are very very wrong.

How does making a single player game make you a pioneer? They were invented a while ago.

I'm in a guild because I enjoy the people in it. It means I have a steady group of people I can raid and play with. I really couldn't care less about the guild perks. If I didn't enjoy the people in my guild I'd leave and either: stay guild less, make my own guild with a really dumb name, or find another one with people I enjoy

Yeah LFR are fine for casuals , and even normal difficulty are double as PUG. But from there it is tough to get qualified players for it.
I've done full PUG clears of Heroic EN and partial mythic clears. Yes you will not be doing this right out of the gate but once the content has been cleared it becomes easier for all especially with experienced people LEADING the raid. Yes you have to find qualified people. The point of a guild is to find like minded individuals that share similiar goal(s). That could be PVP, RP, PVE, WPVP, and other various social aspects. Guilds serve a purpose but are not necessary and certainly not forced.
