79 will just be to old. Bernies nice, but sadly, this was his last and only chance.

Bernie might be too old in 2020. he'll be 80 by then? most people are dead around 79 in the US according to average life expectancy.
    Maybe Warren would run?

Dude has tremendous energy for his age so if he feels that he can run at 79 and still serve then hey lets go for it. Health doesn't seem to be an issue anymore since our two presidential nominees were a 70 year old obese man and a 70 year old woman who faints randomly.

Personally though I'd love for Bernie to back and guide some up and coming young blood.

The great question that everyone of course likes to ignore is why Trump got more Latino/Hispanic and Asian votes than Romney did.
7-8 million Obama voters did not show up for Clinton. They sat it out or flocked to Trump.

If the Democrats are determined to lose 2020, sure - make the same mistake and suffer the consequences for decades to come.
And as the big quote I posted there said - all signs point to another economic crisis/systemic recession in the next 4 years - Democrats have almost 0 chances winning it again in 2020 if they don't learn from mistakes.
Yes the democratic voter share declined - because democratic voters did not turn out.

And no Trump did not increase his Hispanic voter numbers in the way you are portraying. If he did, if Asian's, Hispanics, and African Americans, swapped from voting Obama in 2012 to Trump in 2016 then the number of total republican votes would have substantially increased - but that did not happen. Instead lots of democratic aligned Asian's, Hispanics, and African American's simply did not turn out, which is borne out by the 5 million fall in the democratic vote. Now if one number falls, and the other number stays the same then it alters the percentage share of each, making it appear democrat voters voted for Trump, but that is not what happened in reality.

Here let me put the numbers for you -

    2012 D : 65.9 Million R : 60.9 Million

    2016 D : 60.8 Million R : 60.3 Million

Now where exactly is there a huge movement of Obama democrats now voting for Trump?

Maybe CA's Kamala Harris? Or Warren in 2020. The problem is that Obama and the Clintons have left the party weak in the state level and with few "rising stars," to pick from.

Or maybe someone outside of politics altogether.
I'm interested in what Kamala Harris can do in the next 4 years.

Have you given a thought he might be dead by 2020?

They guy isn't exactly a young fella.

That Kamala Harris instead looks sound.

No offense, but I think Bernie will be 6 ft under by 2020.

I would like to think that Bernie would run again (and win) in 2020. But the problem, he's 75 years old. He will be 79, almost 80 by 2020. He would be the oldest man ever elected president, even older than Reagan was. I mean as long as it doesn't look like he's going to die soon it'd be fine, I don't doubt that he could do the job. He's very healthy and energetic for his age, but that can only go so far.

I personally dont understand the too old argument, I mean Bernie Sanders is only 5 years older than trump, although at the age of 70+ health can go downwards quickly, still I don't think just because the man will be 79 in 2020 that he would be too old if he is still alive and in good health at that point.

Quickly, get me Aubrey De Grey to save Bernie Sanders. We need him alive for another 100 years.

He's 5 years older than Trump. But that's counterbalanced by how unhealthy Trump is. The guy's obese.

There'll be another properly progressive, perhaps even just an independent, candidate in 2020.
Lets face it, as long as the "winner takes it all" electoral college system exists, nobody who isn't Dem or Rep will ever be President.
I really hope someone like Bernie who wants to reform the US social system appears, Bernie wanted to make a better US for everyone.

Because you don't just have to put the 3 years older than Trump in. You have to add the other 4. That makes him 7 years older in 2020 than what Trump is today, which in turn means he'll be one year younger then that what Trump will be IF he gets a second Term when Trump leaves the white house.

Not just that but presidential post ages you considerably. Bernie 2020 would likely not survive the stresses put on him to make it to 2028. He'll likely not make it to 2024 unless he had medical doctors all over him 24/7. Once you reach close to 80 things break down in your body fast.

2020 election Sanders will be 79 if he wins he'll be in until he's 83 or 87. Not even Queen Elizabeth can get around that much at that age. A President of the US has to travel more, do international events. UN, G2, G7, G20 etc. That's just going to be too much for someone that age.

A democrat senator in a republican dominated senate with a republican president? Very little.

If it's Warren the democrats are in trouble. She's unlikable and a social justice nut which won't appeal to the working class.

Bernie is likable and appeals to them. Of course the Dems will probably double down on appealing to the vocal minority because they're stupid.

This election was his chance. Four years from now? Sorry but I'm going to play the "age card" as well, he was a missed opportunity.

Trump won because he picked up the working class vote in the rust belt, which have voted mostly democrat since Bill Clinton. Do you think Bernie Sanders or Liz Warren can reclaim that or steal a demographic from Trump? I doubt it.
Worker class is exactly the kind of class he should be-able to take easy.
