He could set a tone and arguably he already has, that he doesn't care about being PC. That emboldens the populace to be less PC and say what they think. We are already seeing some of this with people screaming racial slurs and such at non-whites. While that is not what I would have hoped for, his actions and style could cause a shift in the culture. By making the terrible people less restrained, the folks who have cuddled up in their safe spaces, may find they don't have much of a safe space and they will be forced to deal with the things they have been avoiding thanks to trigger warnings being posted.

Again, not advocating for the hatefulness we're getting (from both sides really), but Trump could have a direct or indirect affect on the culture with the way he talks and handles things.
