Completely confused about what spec to play

I've got the feeling that I have to switch spec each week. Started out as Outlaw. Then it turned out Sin was way ahead of Outlaw, so I rerolled to Sin. (Which was fun though, Outlaw was becoming a bit boring to be fair) And now guildies are speculating/saying that Subtlety will be way better when Nighthold finally hits.

Don't get me wrong, I love to change spec to result in higher DPS but the artifact power grind is somewhat annoying to level every weapon up.

Also, rolled Sin in PvP at the start of the xpac, -40% agility nerf, GG...
I feel like I'm getting thrown around a lot as a Rogue lol.

So, will Subtlety indeed become the better spec?

(Sorry, didn't notice the other post at first, I'm hangover)

PVE-wise, hard to know, no one bothered to make a rough estimation of how the (2) and (4) piece sub tier sets will affect the damage ( assassination one is ~7% overall damage counting both bonuses, and that is if the (2) piece one doesn't proc energy off Venomous Wounds, which I really think it won't, that would be too OP ), so I'm not sure anyone can talk about it

What I'll talk about, however, is the legendary sub boots that will get slight nerfed, and the assassination legendaries that remained untouched ( boots with 3 MA relics, and in the future, another point on the MA trait, that would make our Vendetta about ~33s CD, and there's still the Elysandre trinket, which when it procs, reduces Vendetta CD for 5s, you can see where it goes ... that with the bracers is an absurd Vendetta uptime ), that is so far atleast, maybe they can change it, maybe not, and we still have to see if that new legendary shoulders will indeed work off Shadow Dance or not ( which, if they do, it will be too OP for sub, and when I say too OP, that's not with the slightest amount of salt, imagine the moment you pop Shadow Dance, having 100% crit chance for the next 11 seconds ... now that I think about it, maybe this will put sub's damage in par/a lil' bit ahead/a lil' bit behind with assassination I guess, IF it works off Shadow Dance, which is unlikely )

PVP-wise ... well, we're fucked by all sides, so there's no point in arguing about it

Don't be strictly an Assassination rogue or strictly an Outlaw rogue or strictly a Subtlety rogue. Just be a rogue. Level each artifact up and understand why each spec is good for different scenarios. If someone busts out a spreadsheet and says you can only play Assassination right now, just laugh at them and move on.

Try Sub out while doing World Quests, it's fantastic.

I had issues picking a spec at first aswell. Right now i am pretty much only playing assassination and its working out for me.

I started out as outlaw and i am never ever going back to RtB again. I dont like that much rng when it comes to my dps. I like to be the one in control of when my good bursts come. I played around with sub aswell but at 875 plus assassin bracers its not even close to my assassination dps.

Until we get some actual logs showing sub ahead of assassination i'm staying assassination. If outlaw becomes the go to spec again i'm switching to my hunter

It's true the specs are good at different things the issue however is that early on ap and relics holds back swapping. That's less of an issue later but the biggest issue will be and is legendaries. Sure for simple things like wq's it doesn't matter but for high mythic + and raids it will matter a lot.

I just picked Sub from the start and I'm sticking with it. Assassination has always been far too slow for my tastes, and Outlaw's mix of RNG and swinging from fast to slow is awful. Sub is great, I really hope it pulls ahead.

Unless you're in a mythic guild going for realm firsts etc, then just play whatever you enjoy. Makes me cringe to see people being dictated what spec they should play for a given week when they're doing EN heroic or some dumb shit like that.

Yup and when every1 in guild will play Dh and monk tanks, disco priest as healers and some frost mages, survi hunters and other bottom tier class and specs - every one will have good time progressing.

How is sub good for WQ. You only have a few shadow dance charges and outside of that the damage is low.

all specs are good you can play all 3.

sin is probably the best choice for now becouse its extremely easy to get nice numbers.

also there is a huge missunderstanding in the community.

outlaw was expected to get nerfed befor EN becouse of how well the spec peformed.
everyone was just to greedy to dont hope blizzard wouldnt adjust the spec.

SIN was under the assumption that outlaw will 100% get a nerf the go to spec and the choice for progression and farm.

sub was considered weak and was thought to only get relevant at the end of EN(even without buffs).

that sayed the sub buffs where not expected but even after the buff these first statements are 100% correct.!!!!!

for Nighthold we cant predict becouse pbe changes are incomplete and not even close to final.

that sayed without the balance changes sub would be best in NH just becouse the that from the gear benefit sub the most and the tier bonus is good.

but i wouldnt plan to far ahead becouse things can change fast.

also dont forget about legendarys they add alot of value to most specs and may add enough value to make whatever spec compatitive.

also keep in mind that unlike other melee dps classes we have clear dissadvantages choosing to only play 1 spec.

Gotta have Mathias Shaw as a follower. With his buff, you shadowstrike-step the target twice and evis. and they immediately die cuz everything crits. mob is dead in 3 GCDS, stealth comes back up in 2 seconds, restealth and jump to another mob within 15 yards. It's actually very quick and fun to pop mobs. The talent that gives you 30+ energy everytime you stealth is key to smoothness too.

    .
This is such a stupid fucking narrative. It excuses Blizzard for fucking rogues in particular. Do you think fire or MM were worried about their top spec being nerfed into the ground the day raids came out? Obviously not.

Heh, i SS twice, dead mob, then one shot the next with evisc, and repeat.

But yes, sub is fun af in world, esp with the no-fall damage trait. Will get even funner with world pvp, just air drop stealth, they will never see us comin

Only 865 or so on mine and thanks to Mathias Shaw mobs die insanely quick. Shadow Dance is also always up considering you restealth as well between.
