This. Toss out the electoral college system and you're looking at people campaigning in a handful of states with a few stop overs in the majority of the areas. Hell, even most of the states themselves won't be bothered with because population rich cities are where you will get your votes.

Couple that with the fact that population dense cities disproportionately contain minorities and you again do a major disservice to actual representation of all people. New York City is the biggest city in the US. This would become target number one in an "Only popular vote matters" contest. Whites are 63.7% of the population of the US but only 44.6% of New York City residents are. That's a 19.1% under representation. Blacks go from 12.2% to 25.1%, a 12.9% increase. Hispanics 16.3% to 27.5% an increase of 11.2%. In other words, the voice of the minorities are over represented while the majority is vastly under represented. Sorry, but that's not equality.

At the end of the day, 1.5 million is frankly a drop in the bucket. If all voting age voters turned out to vote, you're talking 0.6% difference. If only those registered turned out, 1.02% difference. In other words, with the current system she had, she lost. Even if you count the popular vote, she barely won.

Not going to argue against the merit of the EC but what your just saying sounds more like whining because your going to lose potentially a bit of attention or even influence.

Right now Politicians in western europe/US are actively ignoring minorities (Canada is maybe the exception),they are actively running against their own citizens because they can get away with their racist rhetoric. This is what's wrong and not potentially you losing a little bit of attention you get during campaign season.

Stop a couple of large state dictate the whole country, all states have a fair view.

How about using a system where the overall votes is what matters, not the majority of votes in a state? With the current system, if 52% vote Republican then the remaining 48% votes in the state are completely useless. It makes no sense.
