Not true. Increasing the availability of guns and other dangerous weapons allows for criminals who would otherwise not have access to these items to gain access to these items. If it's easier to obtain a weapon legally, it's easier to obtain it illegally. That's why the price of illegal weapons surged by more than an order of magnitude after Australia implemented its harsh gun laws.
