I go on it... maybe monthly or every other month... pretty much so family and extended family can get in touch with me.

Granted, I consider forums as social media, which some people do not. My social media, outside of the rare pop on facebook, is like... a variety of fun little adult-adult sites, darknest, sankaku, HF, imgur (I count it as one. ), WoW forums, pintrest, a few feminist sites, and here... as well as a few others.

I don't see the stuff that people complain about associate with tumblr, though. I only ever go on there to look at and collect porn/hentai... which it is really easy to find on there. I have yet to find a different reason to go on that site, let alone learn to navigate it.

I don't use any social media that would be too heavy on restricted data plans, so I avoid things like skype, snapchat, and instagram.

I have a Facebook and an Instagram personally.

Instagram I only posted like, one picture of my dog, and Facebook I just check usually rather than post things, mostly to message friends directly who I don't have their number.

Usually depends on the game for me...
Games like Rainbow 6 and Battlefield, I'll leave the sounds on, and even raise them as high as I'm able to. Sound is far too important of a information tool to try and get an idea of where an enemy is at, or what they're doing, or about to do.

Guess I'd put overwatch here too; With the Ultimates in the game giving off a sound indication for both teams, that is also directional of where it is coming from.

Other games... WoW, Diablo, Guild Wars... I'll leave the sound off 9/10 times I play.

Some other games like Minecraft, Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen, Ark... I will leave the sound on, but often turn off the music in the games, and load my own, but at a reduced volume to not overwhelm the noises I need to hear at random times. (Nearby Creepers, scanner notifications, dinosaurs nearby...)

My Volume Mixer on my system is like... %100 System and games, %40 on Voice chat, and 2-20% on Music depending on the game. If I don't need sound in a game, and I'm not in voice, I raise my music up to 100%

When I have in-game music on, I might do something like 100% music, 40% sound effects. Music is way too big of a deal for me, it is pretty much my second life! What I have problems with usually is balancing music and voice volume. If music is too loud compared to voice, then I can't hear the voice well; but if I crank up the voice to reach me through the music, then I have to lower the overall volume down, to not deafen myself, and then music doesn't immerse me into the game enough.

In most games, there is a decent balance to be achieved. But in some games voice/music volume naturally varies a lot - I've never managed to find a decent balance in Dragon Age: Origins, for example, as the combat music is too loud, compared to the ambient music, and there is a lot of difference between the sound volume when different NPCs are speaking. I ended up turning on Volume Normalization every time, but it has its own drawbacks, such as "jumpy" music volume during combat.

I only check Facebook once a month or so, to keep some contact with the old acquaintances who live far away from me. I've never gotten into it, really, as it is at that awkward middle-point between virtual and real communication which always makes me somewhat uneasy.
