Theres a good chance Trump would have won if it was a popular vote campaign as well. Well, he certainly wasn't California's choice which is where Hillary beat Trump by a whopping 4 million voters. Accordingly, as set up in the US Constitution, California charged their electors(the people that actually vote for the president, not regular US citizens) to vote for Clinton. Clinton won 55 electoral votes from California.

Take away that 4mil gap from California, and Trump beats Clinton in the popular vote by nearly 2mil. rofl

He only says when you vote, you are assumed to be a citizen ( not you are a legal one with the right to vote ) and there is no reason to fear because it is done in a private situation. In other words, if you make it to the voting stand, the chances of getting caught are slim and none.

Some states are hesitant to purge voter rolls, because it leaves out minorities who might have skipped an election or two. Traditionally Republicans, even in 2016 campaigned to purge voter rolls as often as possible in an effort to hope that those unaware wouldn't register in time and they would be guaranteed a win in that state. Yes this leaves deceased sometimes on the rolls, and people registered in 2 states, but find me a statistic on how often someones presents an ID with their photo on a deceased person's card or drives to the state of their previous residence and votes twice. It's so minuscule that you can't.

In this case, you are reading assumed, where he clearly states "you are a citizen", not you might be. In fact, let's go with he meant assume that when you vote you are a citizen, that still doesn't turn it into him encouraging illegal immigrants to vote.

I don't understand how 'hanging chad' is coming full circle when the issue now is electronic machines. Yeah, I bitched about Comcast service, switched to their XFinity service and then cancelled their service because that was terrible as well. This is a fallacy that needs to go away

The US is a democracy...the was the US defines republic is just a democracy in another name. A representative democracy is still a democracy, its still a part of the republican - a government by the people for the people. The US is a true a democracy as any another. Not being a direct democracy doesn't make not a democracy nor is the US government without influence of the popular vote. Even the EC must uphold the popular vote is must states and it others its just never been challenged.
