i think that it's a dangerous move but i have reasons to believe that it's part of a wider strategy, unlike this one which was just another Trump gaffe which i stopped finding funny after he got that ominous president elect title

that said i'm not sure how is Obama relevant to any of this

LOL, the US has more Mexicans than Canada has total population? Also, if 10%+ of your country's total population really consists of outlanders, you have a big problem on your hands.

After a couple years President Donald Trump will have the PRC licking our boots. Not only that, they will have made the boots that they will eventually be licking.

China's actually okay with the US selling military shit to Taiwan. See the return part of the deal is that the US doesn't officially acknowledge the Taiwanese Government nor their independence. As far as China is concerned, that's all they want. It's like Germany selling military to Texas. Why would Washington care if one of its states got stronger? Good for them!

The U.S. is a country 100% full of immigrates & outlanders. I don't see it as a problem. And I'm not sure what the % of Mexicans in the U.S. has to do with the Canadian population. My only point being. The U.S. is so 'awful', they don't mind staying here. A fraction of a % who make it to the U.S. bother to look for more fertile ground. The U.S. is so 'awful', that 99.8% decide to stay.

The U.S. is so 'awful' that millions of Americans who are distraught over the election results, hate their fellow Americans for voting against them, and hate the country because it was able to happen, still figure at the end of the day, it's better to live here than anywhere else in the world.

Sure, I agree with all that except the part where you noted, China was good with it. Cause they weren't. Though that kinda negates everything else you said...sooooo

    What happened:

    Taiwan called the US.

    US answered.

China asked US if everything was still good with "One China".

    US said yes, still good.

China is angry at TAIWAN for trying to stir shit up.

US medias jumped on this as if China was angry at the US for making a call.

    The era of misinformation.

Yeah, but Trump should have known not to pick up. He really should have let it go to voice mail. The world as we know it is over now.

This is what happens when the world's only superpower elects a narcissistic buffoon as its president. That's not nation bashing btw, that's just a fact. The next 4 years are going to be a wild ride.

You have a good point there. We are so much safer just giving the bully our lunch money. That's basically the best way to deal with any bully. If we just give them what they want every time they want it, they won't beat us up.

Get over it people. If you like China so much, please feel free to move there. Oh that's right, weren't a lot of these crybabies suppose to have moved to Canada(aka the land of oh-so-few Mexicans. Isnt that interesting that they didnt choose Mexico over Canada? Yeah #hideyourinnenrracism) by now?
Uggh why do you think he did that? Come on use your brain. Hell I'll spell it out for you.

The Taiwanese leader is pro-independence. He realized Trump is an idiot (its blatantly obvious), and knew that if he called Trump he'd likely answer it without consulting anyone or thinking through the implications. So he calls Trump and the idiot acts like the idiot he is and does exactly as the Taiwanese president expected him to do. This was all planned and Trump fell for the set-up.

Since most of the left won't admit the U.S. is a superpower, I would take this one as a national compliment. thanks

No problem. Just make sure your buffoon of a president doesn't fuck everything up for everyone.

Who honestly cares if China gets a little pissed about this? They can't do shit, and our foreign policy has been shifting this way regardless (as it should be). We can play the game of "pacific pivot" and "patrols for free trade in the pacific!" but we need to call it as it is. China is our enemy, in fact it is our greatest enemy for now and for the foreseeable future.

America should confront it's enemies, it's time that we stop pussyfooting around everything. If we want to remain the world's only, or at least strongest super power we're going to have to get confrontational. We need to go a lot further than pissing in China's cereal, though. We need to start enforcing the trade rules, we need to start sufficiently arming our allies and our bases in the region. And when others ask why, we shouldn't have to give some bullshit excuse like we need one. We'll tell them because China is the greatest threat to democracy, free trade, and the world as we currently know it.

I'm sick of China bullying our allies in the pacific. I'm sick of China attempts to compete with the US in the pacific, and I'm sick of China's attempts at destroying free trade. It's time we start using the stick on the right people again.

Whether this was an accident or not, I don't care. Hopefully Trump continues down the path of pissing China off, and eventually, disrupting their ascent to global power.

I'm farther left than most people, and I acknowledge that we're the only super power (although, perhaps, a united EU is up there).

China has historically been isolationist. Let the sleeping tiger rest. Don't poke it.

China has a large influence in the Middle East and Africa.

Nah. China's not angry, neither are the US. Nothing will change, beside another campaign of fearmongering from the medias.

The funny thing though is that:

    1) There will be no political fall out or national impact whatsoever because of this phone call. The outrage that there was a phone call is the only news you'll ever hear about it.
    2) Almost no one on the right, or in the middle, and even some of left cares about this news that China is super pissed. Would be the same as if the next MSNBC story is "Trump pisses off Russia". Similar to how the left and center (and even some on the right) doesn't care when they hear the news, "Obama pissed off Russia".
