I think that there are potential adverse effects on Native land that is used for subsistence purposes, such as the quality of drinking water and disruption of local ecosystems, whether the pipeline is built *on* Native land or *right next* to Native land. That is completely ignoring the effect of tar sands oil excavation on the environment.

People tend to forget that the original pipeline was moved away from non native towns for the same reason the natives want it moved. No one stood here telling white people that they had to have a pipeline near them and their ecosystems.

Nah, the pipes will be built to control the oil so it wont get into the water system. Trace air particles have not stopped life expectancy from increasing overall.

Tell that to the Kalamazoo river and other similar places in recent years where pipelines burst.

It's a good thing nothing bad ever happens to oil pipelines and that nothing ever goes wrong!

I can only imagine what this country would be like if Regan did not scrap the Carter Solar and green energy policy/projects. Imagine If over the last 36 years the US was heavily invested and researching Green/renewable energies. We would be the world leaders in this industry and could have seen faster growth than in Clinton's era and strong manufacturing sector making solar/wind/etc. for us and the rest of the world. But hey, it's all about the limited oil instead and lining their pockets instead of caring for the citizens.
