How it came about is irrelevant, it is still a cultural practice.

It still can not be compared to cancer, and by that logic you can remove a lot of things from body to prevent it. Why not remove all your teeth?

Superstitious ritual mutilation of children should never be a parental right.

I guess I'm too biased on this subject. I'm circumcised. I'm from the US. And basically everyone outside the US seems to think it's a barbaric act.

I really try hard not to let my personal biases effect opinions that should be scientific or medical in nature.

But I just don't get the emotional outrage toward circumcision. I do not consider it to be mutilation, and I've yet to see any evidence that the small risks outweigh the small benefits.

Because you need your teeth. You don't need your foreskin.

A small risk of death is not what I would call a small risk in general.

    You can replace your teeth.

    Hyperbole.

Breasts are required. For a variety of purposes.

    You can replace your teeth.
Yes but it'd be quite the hassle. Incomparable.

It's a small child... You don't take risks with babies.
The so called small benefits are still up for a lot of debate. and again risk losing your baby for whatever ritual is really stupid.
Lets not even speak about the herpes some babies have gotten.

That's very personal. It is something between me, my girlfriends and/or my hand.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_H...ith_passion.22

Kellogg worked on the rehabilitation of masturbators, often employing extreme measures, even mutilation, on both sexes. He was an advocate of circumcising young boys to curb masturbation and applying phenol to a young woman's clitoris. In his Plain Facts for Old and Young,[8] he wrote:

A remedy which is almost always successful in small boys is circumcision, especially when there is any degree of phimosis. The operation should be performed by a surgeon without administering an anesthetic, as the brief pain attending the operation will have a salutary effect upon the mind, especially if it be connected with the idea of punishment, as it may well be in some cases. The soreness which continues for several weeks interrupts the practice, and if it had not previously become too firmly fixed, it may be forgotten and not resumed.
