2. Vehicle emissions which reduce the power in our cars and force us to drive lightweight garbage
3. Overstepping people's rights to harvest rainwater
4. Forcing people with ponds on their land to spend lots of money maintaining them and forbidding use of the water
5. Banning products that work and forcing us to use inferior and more expensive replacements
6. Severely restricting the ability of US companies to extract natural gas and oil, and banning drilling in nearly every body of water around the US
7. Kowtowing to Environmentalist Nazis and Tree Huggers
8. Blocking every pipeline planned for transport of oil (Keystone XL, Dakotas Pipeline, etc..)

We will FINALLY have an EPA Chief with common sense and a willingness to let people have a better standard of living. President Trump has nominated former OK Attorney General Scott Pruitt for the position.

OP needs to go live in Delhi, India or Beijing, China. There he can have all the coal he wants. But even they are trying desperately to get rid of coal and they certainly don't drive around in hummers. Stop trying to go backwards. The future is coming whether you like it or not. Oil and coal companies are currently going bankrupt because prices are too low. Increasing the supply even still will ensure their demise.

You need to either restrict the supply or increase the demand, both of which would likely require a government regulation of some sort. Unfortunately you don't believe in regulations, even as a climate change denier, so instead of using the government as a tool to improve your agenda you continue down a path that will only do harm to it.

Their prices are also dropping because the price of renewable energy sources has passed the parity point where they cost just as much as oil and gas (which are more efficient than coal) and are starting to become cheaper. So forcing us to use coal, oil and gas also goes against free market principles.

Our deficit was headed for a surplus under Obama, after starting at absolutely horrible numbers when he entered office. He's honestly done miracles with the deficit, but conservatives continue to cry about the debt, claiming it's the only important number, because the deficit heading in the right direction destroys their narrative.

Point conceded, that's dumb. My other points remain, as does part two of that point--good luck finding drinkable acid rain from all the pollution once environmental regulations are rolled back. It's because we cap emissions from vehicles and plants that the air in America's as clean as it is--and that's not even all that great to begin with, especially in metropolitan areas or areas with a heavy manufacturing economy. There's a reason I referenced Beijing twice. Chinese environmental regulations are lax on a good day, and Beijing's pollution is so bad people have to wear masks to breathe outdoors.

First, this is an extreme case. He built his own dams (10- to 20-foot tall) and three reservoirs with capacity up to 13 million gallons. That is bigger than some of the reservoirs which belong to some of the smaller water districts in east county. These reservoirs are permitted by the Bureau of Dam, Army Corp of Engineers and Regional Water Control Quality Board. I doubt this guy's dams and reservoirs are permitted.

Second, the EPA is not stopping him. He is fighting the Oregon's Water Resources Department. In short, he is fighting the State of Oregon. The EPA is not involved.

Third, I have my own rain harvesting system with two 1,500-gallon underground cisterns, and nobody said anything.

I agree the deficit is important. But its important not to downplay the national debt either. I think most people don't realize that there are interest payments on the national debt. They just think it's a number that sits there and will someday need to be payed off. When in reality we're paying it right now. "In 2015, the U.S. spent $223 billion, or 6 percent of the federal budget, paying for interest on the debt."

This is a house of cards. And anyone in charge of this system needs a deep understanding of it. Just like the environment. There are no simple solutions and this could be our downfall. If it was easy it would have been fixed long ago by the last guy who promised to fix everything.
