"What is The Left willing to give up on?"

Normally I post articles for discussion, but today I'm going to do something different: I'm just going to ask a question and see what comes back

The question is:

"What is The Left willing to give up, to compromise on, to change about its internal culture and beliefs?"

By that I mean, what are the negotiable beliefs that can be compromised on to bring the left back towards the middle where democracies will be more willing to trust and vote for Democrats/etc?

Some possible themes and areas:

- Abortion
- Reproductive rights
- Gay marriage
- Gender theory
- Political correctness
- Social welfare
- Cross-sectional feminism
- Climate change
- Obamacare
- Positive discrimination
- Capitalism vs socialism
- Censorship
- etc

A simple statement like "I think Democrats should give up on this area"

Well aside from political correctness, they'll be giving up all of that when the tolerant Muslims they worship finish conquering them in Europe lol

I think the Democrats should give up on:


-glorifying the military
-working with Republicans
-taking money from Wall Street
-pretending American-style capitalism works
-normalizing Trump (admit he's an American Mussolini and move on from there)
-hardcore gun control (push licensing and call it done - and arm more D constituencies)
-pretending the stupid, ignorant bigots in the GOP are anything but an active threat to the United States, the human race, and planet earth.

Pure capitalism without government regulation has resulted in disaster since companies only really care about profits. Without government controls capitalism also created disastrous stock market crashes, global recessions / depressions, violations of human rights, pollution and things as weird as companies putting cocaine in their products to keep customers hooked. Because the true left has thankfully never gained traction in the US so we describe things as they appear to us, because thats all that matters to us. The Dems are the left most major party in the US, so they are the left wing of American politics.

These are not really left/right issues for many. How they became so in certain parts of the world *cough*America*cough* is often more to do with religion than left/right politics.

These are typically where the traditional left and right have differences.

Giving up on an issue would assume that opposing side is more popular. You certainly couldn't argue that just because Trump was elected, considering the popular vote. And looking at something like gay rights, that would only do them more harm than good.

I expect to see US Trumplings at Sporting events cheering on a United States team

Us Patriotic Australians cheer on our Sportspeople too.

And I do not mind mixing with other supporters from other countries at the end of the game.

Abortion/Gay marriage should be a universal right like food and water, no child should be brought into this world if they cannot be supported or loved/cared for. Especially not because a dusty old tome says so (think religion) .. and you'd consider me to be 'on the right' I assure you.

not sure why you americans have such an issue about climate change either. This is not something you can just give up on lol. 99.9% of the scientific community is agreed that it's due to human actions that the earth is warming up. The question is is whether or not this is a bad thing (I'm not so sure).. but 'denying' climate change is happening at this point is like denying circles are round.

It is when you are just talking about US politics, and face it, the US doesnt care about how others classify our politics.

So you just wanted your own special snowflake politics, becease putting the 2 parties in different groups made it easier to be partisan/cheer them on like a football team.

But for some reason, calling them left/right was easier than calling them Liberal(-conservatives)/Christian conservatives.
