So, Lava Wave on Braxis Holdout, huh. That one seems a tad OP.^^
Otherwise i think Lava Wave is not too strong. People just need to learn to dodge that thing....
It's really, REALLY good if you are often teamfighting in lanes (eg Spider Queen), so long as you can co-ordinate with your tank to make the engage about 3sec before the wave comes plowing in while everyone is focussed on the fight. It's also super for defending against pushes, esp as it is global (ie you don't need to head up to a lane that has a big-ass minion wave barrelling down it, you just Wave from wherever you are and keep going).
Sulf Smash is better for when you are gonna teamfight a lot in the jungle (eg Hollow) for sure. It does so much fucking damage if you nail people with the centre.

My impressions after a few quick matches:
- the fact that Lava Wave soaks the XP of the killed minions is in my eyes the major factor favoring that ult. The ability to be like "yeah we don't have to defend that top lane clobbering our Keep, i'll just press Lava Wave. We can keep rotating and I just push that lane from the other end of the map" is really far more stronger than i would have expected.
- that people get caught outside of coordinated CC (or standing in front of the last gate where you have little time to react) besides getting a visual on the minimap + a voice warning from ragnaros will problably subside once you get used to it.
- his W does too much damage / ticks too often
- his E could use some + dmg (after reducing W ofc)
- his ability to stay in fights with Cauterizing Flames and smashing 2-3 targets with Q is higher than Thrall's.
- lil' ragnaros skin is ugly

Okay, I was lucky to play few QMs and 1 game of Unranked, HL and TL on him.
My build: http://www.heroesfire.com/hots/talen.../ragnaros#gsFg
+ Insane wave clear
+ Insane AoE team fight damage
+ Really strong team fight sustain if you are able to hit multiple people
+ Can take camps quickly
+ Insane Core defense thanks to combination of Molten Core and Lava Wave
+ Great map control and counter to Globals when you take Lava Wave
+ Great for stalling on most maps
+ Easy to execute mechanics
- Rather weak 1v1
- Mediocre solo laner
I honestly have no idea how they want to balance him as melee Assassin. He is extremely overtuned in numbers department, if he was Specialist, they could easily get away with reducing his PvP damage and keeping his PvE damage untouched. Right know, he is just doing everything really well. There wasn't a game where I had less than 100k Hero and Siege damage while also having high number of Experience soaked.
However I think he needs one quality of life change: being able to cancel activated Empower Sulfuras (Q) or just give it a Burning Blade treatment. Sometimes you can't hit them with reset AA because they just moved away from your AA range. This way you are basically losing your burst damage and heal when you need it.
Not saying he needs a buff, but it can be annoying.

Is he really an assasin? To me he feels like a specialist.
Have played about 6 matches with him in QM. While I've only won one game so far with him, I still have to say, Blizzard nailed the design on this one. Ragnaros feels like Ragnaros when playing him. Although I think that his kit very overtuned as of now (let's be honest, he is pretty much OP), they made a really fun Hero to play as.
Lava Wave honestly has to be one of the best ultimates in the game right now with the current damage numbers. Being able to just clear an entire lane from your own core to the enemy core while gaining the xp benefits is so ridiculously good (on large maps this is a massive benefit if you are xp racing while also stopping enemy camp pushes). The fact that it can potentially kill an entire enemy team if timed right is just the cherry on top.

While the wave is really good on the larger maps (CH or WJ) or against heavy push characters like Azmodan and Zagara, I personally find myself gravitating to the hammer ult. I adjust accordingly to the fight, but I almost always want to take the hammer. The shorter CD, the huge burst in the center, the synergy with Molten Core and his Hammer build... It has more going for it than wave does, for me at least.

Only played 2 QMs on him.
Some things I have noticed:
-I feel he is a bit squishy in TFs - my experience against other Rags also suggests the same.
-Empower Sulfuras Quest is easy to complete but its not a very high impact talent and you will complete it mid game if you are laning anyway. So I dont rush to finish it.
-Meteor quest is stupidly easy to finish.
The last QM I got was on ToD, one of his weaker maps in solo queue - but actually viable in coordinated groups. Tips for ToD:
-Sufuras Smash should be the goto pick on this map as you will ot get any hero damage on Lava wave, nor does it help on objectives.
-Meteor quest is ok here
-Giant scorcher is nice, too.
-You can get great value from his E
-Not sure about heroic difficulty on this map because if you have to depush too often, you are likely having other problems on this map.
Ragnaros will be on the rotation for the first time this week. Go burn some insects.
