At their origins, they are indians. Some 300-400 years ago they started migrating towards the west. They arrived mostly in current day Balkans. Many were enslaved or could not continue their road west due to the fact that the whole deal with the Ottoman Empire was around fighting the Austro-Hungarian Empire and the rest and Europeans didn't really want people that might be connected somehow to the Ottoman Empire (and they thought there might be some connection because gypsies aren't white).

So gypsies remained in the Balkans. Over time they settled in here. So technically they could be considered European... if we only count the last 200 years or so. At their origin however, they are indians.

Not at all, not sure where you got that from. Yeah, they have clan fights amongst eachother, but stealing is mostly done to those outside their community.

This varies from country to country. The roma people in Finland are mostly a peaceful bunch no different from the average "natives" apart from how they dress.

Speaking about my city, I've yet to meet a romanian gipsy who hasn't been involved in any kind of criminal activity.

It's only the media and the central government bodies here in Europe that are in love with them refugees. The vast majority of regular citizens, all over the member countries, don't want to be invaded by these greatly uncivilized people who cause nothing but civil unrest. We want to help, but not if by helping we damage the high level of quality of live we've been acostumed to all our lives.
