AND RUSSIA
https://today.yougov.com/news/2016/1...s-over-russia/
Friendly reminder:
- The US is generally internationally quite popular.
- Russia is held in a rather low and declining regard internationally.
- The American public is profoundly anti-Russian.
I've been saying for months now - the GOP is now the party of Russian patriots. They're quick to throw US intelligence agencies and US interests under the bus in order to defend and protect Russia and Putin from anything negative right now.
Again, more Republicans (around 40%) have a favorable view of Putin now than they do of Obama (18%, at least last I checked). That should speak volumes about the party of "patriots".
These are all the NATO countries
Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and the United States. In 1952, Greece and Turkey became members of the Alliance, joined later by West Germany (in 1955) and Spain (in 1982). In 1990, with the reunification of Germany, NATO grew to include the former country of East Germany. Between 1994 and 1997, wider forums for regional cooperation between NATO and its neighbors were set up, including the Partnership for Peace, the Mediterranean Dialogue initiative and the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council. In 1997, three former Warsaw Pact countries, Hungary, the Czech Republic, and Poland, were invited to join NATO. After this fourth enlargement in 1999, the Vilnius group of The Baltics and seven East European countries formed in May 2000 to cooperate and lobby for further NATO membership. Seven of these countries joined in the fifth enlargement in 2004. Albania and Croatia joined in the sixth enlargement in 2009.
We've got 23 allies in comparison to Russia and Syria. If all our allies agree to block Russia from the internet for 4 years, we can set Russia's STEM programs back by years, remember that everything has to be cutting edge these days.
We can ask Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Korea and Vietnam too.
Remember if Russia is meddling in US internal affairs, what is Russia doing to all the other countries.
And an internet boycott is less harsh than an economic boycott.

I don't approve of how it happened, but I like to know the truth.
I am glad the DNC got exposed with all their corruption and ugliness.
Russia vetted the DNC, they did the job the press refuses to do.
Russia acted as a whistle blower in this. If you are a fan of the truth, then we you know we need whistle blowers.
In fact the most legitimizing thing Trump could do is becoming Mr.We Must Punish Russia.
Far from running from this stuff, he should take ownership of it. Russia is not a winning political issue for him.
For their part, the Russians know this, which is why despite the exuberance of the Putinistas, the intelligence and security services of Russia are being very cool to Trump's victory. They know, among other things, that as I wrote about, Russia would be the big loser in his arms build up (which would be mostly focused in Europe and Asia), and that Russia is not a winning political issue for Trump in America, and he has no reason not to turn on Russia.
You really said all that needs to be said when you opened with "the FBI simply chose not to prosecute". Anyone with even a cursory, basic understanding of this knows that the FBI doesn't prosecute anyone. They investigate and then the Justice Department chooses whether to prosecute, and even if they choose not to, congress can still convene investigations to make public issues that they believe need to be prosecuted, to force the Justice Department's hand. None of that has happened, because there is no credible evidence of criminal wrongdoing in this case. If there is, present it and stop whining about the FBI not prosecuting people when the FBI doesn't prosecute anyone, for anything, ever, because it isn't their job.

No the irony is how obama promised to reset relations with russia back in 2008. They never improved and only deteriorated. I don't think anybody wanted a cold war again but it seems that is what he has done. People try to say he's the greatest president in 50 years. All of his predecessors at least had some working relation with russia. Obama gives away the store. Can he just leave office sooner?

Then can we blow the GOP's whistle? Because they have skeletons in their closets too. And if we're not careful, Pence might think that they need electroshock therapy when they're revealed and come out.
Jokes aside, there's a reason for the bi-partisan support of this measure, and I'd wager it's not because Congress feels like throwing Obama a bone. They have a lot to lose if any of their information were to ever slip out.
The biggest issue is "resetting" those relations was supposed to be a two way street, but Russia is only happy with a weak US. When they president didn't comply they clearly looked at other means. Since Obama didn't weaken the US they just made sure someone was elected that will.
