    Can I get help choosing which cloak to wear? (resto)

    Just got the drape of shame cloak from kara (855) and was wondering is it strong enough to swap it with my 885 one.
    Drape of shame stats are 765 intellect, 1147 stam, 278 crit and 470 vers
    Gossamer-Spun Greatcloak 1011 intellect, 1516 stam, 346 crit and 490 mastery

    basically from switching I lose 246 intellect, 68 crit and 490 mastery and gain 470 vers so is the effect on the cloak (increases the healing of your critical healing effects by 10%) worth dropping all those stats.

    thanks for the help

    drape of shame is bis for most healers regardless of Item level. 10% harder crits is really really good

    It's only 5% harder crits

    Even 5% is worth it.

    Nah. It's 10% points which is actually 5%.

    Example:
    Normal heal: 100
    Crit heal: 200
    Crit heal with cloak: 210

    Difference: 210/200 = 1,05 aka 5% more

    As far as OP's question goes i think it's not worth it.

    Hmm okay. Thanks for the info. Why would the multiplier be added to the normal heal and not the crit heal is beyond me tho. Seems retarded and pretty misleading

    It's not applied to normal heal and it's not a multiplier.
    It's just additive to the crit multiplier. Normal crit heal is 200%, with the cape it's 210%.

    not worth - 892 resto shaman.

    Take a crit mastery cloak instead anything 875 + will be better than a 855 Drape of Shame, although if you get a titan forged one.. it maybe better

    It depends on how much crit you have. I am at 887 ilvl with 40k int and 30% crit. The effect of this cloak is worth about 2.3% healing (math below), to get 2.3% healing, I will roughly need 900-1000 secondary stats. This is not something you can get even with a +50 ilvl from a cloak slot. However, if your crit is very low, say 10-12%, it might be worth using that crit/mas 885 ilvl cloak over a 855 drape of shame.

    With 10% crit effect on 30% crit chance
    (210 X 30 + 100 X 70)/100 = 133% average healing

    Normal 30% crit change
    (200 X 30 + 100 X 70)/100 = 130% average healing

    Gain = 133/130=2.3%

    Let's take a look at the world boss cloak with crit/mastery at itemlvl 895 as a "worst" case:
    The critheal on shame would have to make up for 345 int, 63 crit and 527 mastery while having 470 versatility.
    63 crit -> 0.18%
    527 mastery -> 4.5%
    470 versatility -> 1.18%
    Let's assume a target of 50% health on average, so mastery gives half its benefit. We are going to ignore haste as it does not change from one cloak to another.

    Cloak of shame healing without healing coeff of a spell:
    Int*(1+0.1*Crit)*(1+Mast)*(1+Vers)

    World boss cloak healing without healing coeff of a spell:
    (Int+345)*(1+0.0018+Crit)*(1+0.0225+Mast)*(1-0.018+Vers)

    If the first one is greater than then second one you should use the cloak of shame...plug in your own values to see if it would be better to use a 855 cloak of shame compared to a 895 crit/mastery cloak. (Please note that you need to use e.g. 0.3 if your crit value is 30% and that the value from mastery is halved in this example as stated prior)

    Let's plug in some example numbers:
    Char 1
    Int =40000
    Mastery 100% -> Mast = 0.5
    Crit 30 % -> Crit = 0.3
    Versatility 5% -> Vers = 0.05

    Cloak of shame gives 0.9% more healing than 895 cloak

    Char 2
    Int =35000
    Mastery 80% -> Mast = 0.4
    Crit 20 % -> Crit = 0.2
    Versatility 4% -> Vers = 0.04

    Cloak of shame gives 0.06% more healing than 895 cloak (so basically the same healing)

    Char 3
    Int =30000
    Mastery 70% -> Mast = 0.35
    Crit 15 % -> Crit = 0.15
    Versatility 2% -> Vers = 0.02

    Cloak of shame gives 0.5% less healing than 895 cloak

    This whole calculation does not factor in any crit you get from tidal waves or artefact traits. Even if you do not factor them in at all, cloak of shame is better than a 895 bis stat cloak as soon as you hit decent gear levels (char 2 stats are reachable at around ~870 itemlvl). The more crit and the more int, the better cloak of shame becomes.

    TL;DR
    Get cloak of shame over a 895 bis cloak if you are >~870 Itemlvl OR >~860 itemlvl with more than 25% crit
