If it doesn't have flying, I hope they add lots of edges and ridges that it's very easy to fall off from into space, like in Hellfire Peninsula or Mardum.

That would be sweet; it would make the area feel dangerous and a good reason to not have flying.

I'm pretty sure it will be the size of a mini continent and its zones will be unlocked throughout the months so that way they can take a lonnggg time to develop expansion and still have new content out waiting to be released. I expect a 7.3 [The base patch] 7.3.5 [new dungeons] and 7.4 [the raid]

You see, that's the kind of thing that I could really respect as far as ground-based design. Not some winding, mazelike land with misleading paths. But having to actually take your position on the terrain into account when you're fighting. And if THAT was what was being ruined by flying, I could actually concede the point in such areas. I'd still want other areas where flying was usable and fun, but I could recognize an argument for preserving the ground "content" in such a design.

But how often do we actually have that in the open world where flying/gliding is available?

Rogue uses his clever mind to avoid gravity.

Warrior just...rages against gravity and ignores it like he does pain.

I really wanted to bash you for the insanely whiny posts where you're behaving like a child who wants his toy back after it was taken from it by mommy, but then I realized, you are not behaving like a child, you're just on Mt. Everest high as a kite with Entitlement.

We don't need to continue this discussion. I've already said, that I won't buy Legion, till outdoor design won't be fixed. End of discussion. Now it's up to Blizzard to decide, whether they want me to buy Legion and any subsequent xpacks or not. Even flying isn't enough for this. Problem is with core game mechanic - respawn mechanic. Respawn is either too slow or too fast and too dependent of amount of players around. No compromises will fix it - it should be replaced with better mechanic. Or Blizzard need to return to pre-Cata outdoor design, where locations were big enough to fit all players and there was no CRZ.

    I don't care about Wow 11.0, if it's not solo-MMO. No half-measures - just perfect xpack.

Wrap it up and lock the thread, I guess the conversation is over. This guy isn't going to buy another expansion until we take 3 steps back and return to gigantic zones with nobody in them. Also, flying was only useful for getting around faster, there was almost no gameplay associated with it.

Then maybe Blizzard should add some gameplay to it?

It's an endgame patch island. Of course there will be no flying.

I will buy it for all my characters in a single blink. Because current system is so fucking retarded.

I have no idea from where this "immersion problem" bullshit appeared. There was no immersion problem in TBC. There was no immersion problem in WOTLK. There was no immersion problem in Cata. Even in MOP there was no immersion problem. But 8 years after introducing flying Blizz found "immersion problem" somewhere. WTF is this bullshit?

If we can fly, how would they believably explain the nonexistence of the rest of Argus or the invisible walls? Just some tiny isle in the middle of some corrupted ocean? Super high mountains? Instagib fel cannons?

Much easier to just surround the area with terrain and absurd mob swarms that grill you.

Meh. The more I think about it, the less sense the whole "we go to Argus" makes anyway.
Well its like how it works now. You fly too far into the ocean and u get fatigued.

Guys please go back to the no-fly thread I avoid those places for a reason. The agrument is pointless, blizzard has set out a policy for flying that they seem happy with and works well with their game development cycle. Yes, many people dont agree with that policy. But dont forget that many others also do and feel that the game is better off with it.

We dont know shit about argus and while its likely be somewhat like IoT it might also be really different. What might be really cool is if it was like Netherstorm with many different floating islands around. On those islands could be bio-domes with native agrus wildlife where you cannot fly. Giving some kind of compromise for players with both preferences. The zone is still a long way off (6months at least) so maybe blizzard decides to go crazy with it.

The fact, that in the past we were able to play the game without any mounts, i.e. as any RPG is intended to be played, and now game is literally unplayable without flying mounts - just shows, how good game design was in the past and how broken it is now.

Also, some players confuse MMOs with social games. MMO means simply "Many Men Online". Some aspects of MMO can be social, but every part of MMO isn't required to be social. MMO isn't social network! If you need communication/social experience/"Japanese underground at rush hour" experience - go sit in Facebook.

And we don't need this crap, sorry. We want to play the game and enjoy it.

P.S. As always. Today Tanaan have taken 1:45 to complete. With flying of course. It helped a lot, cuz I needed to perform location switch TWICE in order to avoid idling/AFKing - locations were wiped by other players. Yeah, despite of 7.1.5, Tanaan has been extremely overcrowded for last several days. And I think, that it's perfectly fine time to invest into daily stuff. I just don't understand, why Blizzard want to slow me down even more and make game even more tedious for me.

    Half the player base quit

I'd wager we'll unlock flying in the Broken Isles in 7.2 then Argus will function like the Isle of Thunder and the Timeless Isle where flying isn't permitted once again.

I know flying makes everything easier, but how the hell did you complete Tanaan in under 2 minutes?
