No, I don't think it's OK to watch porn in public. You don't watch porn for entertainment like you would watch a Hollywood movie.
You watch porn to get a turn on and to get your business done. I really don't want others to do that in a public place, especially on a public transport where I might not be able to avoid watching them.
Obviously I am talking about real porn and not about some semi erotic flick where some american loses it because you could almost see the tip of a nipple.

    Exactly, I don't believe it.

Wasn't it youporn that published the timeframe how most their videos are watched? The first 10 seconds, then skip 3 minutes into it, and letting it play for the next two minutes and in only 10% the last 50% of the video is ever played at all.

Hmm, are you speaking about him watching porn or her looking at what obviously is not her phone and invading his privacy sphere like the nosy person that she obviously is? Serves her right for being indiscrete, if you ask me. She should feel uncomfortable. Not because he's watching porn, but because it's none of her goddamn business.

You realize youporn only tracks porn watched on there website right? Do you also realize there is more way's to watch porn then Youporn.

Also those stats didn't say 100% of people watching there videos did it that way. Doesn't matter if you believe it or not there is people who do. If you can't hear or see it then its none of ur business. If you lean over and look then that's on you.

Also it was Pornhub who posted those stats if I recall right.

Kind of gross really. I wouldn't do it.

Of course it's ok, as long the person is wearing headphones and doesnt shove the screen into someone's face, nobody else have any business with what he is watching.

Also this, this is not fucking OK.
Don't snoop on what other people is watching or doing on their phone.

It's quite pathetic but if you are somewhat discreet about it who cares. Just please don't be that kid of Arab descent showing off the action with his girlfriend for the whole burger joint to see.

She shouldn't be fucking watching what somebody else is doing on their phone. I bet she'd have been up in arms if somebody else had been snooping around at what she was doing on her phone.

What does it matter how they watch porn and how many do it for entertainment? Even if only 1% would do it just to mind his business, I still would not want him to do that next to me in a public place.
I also wouldn't want him to pee in his pants when he's next to me. Why would I care? No idea, perhaps because it stinks, perhaps because I cannot help feeling disgusted. I just would not want it.

I've seen someone walked out of the local mall here for not putting away his porn magazine...(In front of the Disney store too...*tsk*)

Yes, though perhaps blasting your speakers with the sound volume turned up is kind of inconsiderate.

I don't think so, no. Sex in public is not okay. Pornography in public doesn't seem that different to me.

Now, that I would be okay with.

I think that sex, the display of sex and affection, is far too heavily restricted in the US. I think that, so long as you aren't being a nuisance with it, even watching porn, so long as you aren't like, rubbing or stroking yourself. It should be fine depending on the instance of what sort of porn it is. For example, violent and/or heavily offensive porn should have some sort of restriction in public. However, generic and/or romantic and casual porn/hentai, should be fine.

As a country that is prone to advertising violence, even to children, that this is more of a non-issue. If I had more of a say in what society deemed fit for the public, I'd restrict violence, but allow sex and by extension porn, so long as it wasn't terribly offensive or violent. Granted, I also believe that nudism should be a thing to a moderate degree.
Where do you draw the line though, what's too much for one, isn't anything to fuss about for another.

Apart from the question if it is okay: Is it really that difficult for some people to wait with watching that kind of stuff until they are at home?

No it isn't, end of story.

It's a little rude because not everyone will be comfortable if they happen to glance at your screen. Sound-wise, you shouldn't be playing anything aloud in public- also rude and interrupts what others may want to do.

Anything public is a shared space essentially. So it's sensible to establish behavior that allows the maximum amount of comfort for all without infringing on the individual too much.

Chances are recreational watching of pornography in public is pretty fringe and ultimately fruitless without risking indecency or sexual misconduct charges. So while there is nothing actually wrong with enjoying pornography, masturbation or sex in an abstract sense- watching pornography in public is a kind of willful disregard and subversion of fellow citizens in that public space. Which is kind of an jerkface thing to do, if you will.

It ok but its really rude that people look on other peoples smartphones without their consent.
