There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has been. The strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that “my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge." - Isaac Asimov
That's pretty much my position in a nutshell as well. I want all people to be happy and well, regardless of their political views or anything else. Granted, some people's narrative or actions make it much harder to build a world in which all people are happy and well, so I do and will oppose them by certain means - but I will never cheer at their misery.
It is strange how so many people cannot grasp this simple concept of empathy, even given how much it's being talked about in politics, books, movies, even video games.
"The goal of socialism is communism." - Vladimir Lenin
"But my personal brand of socialism/communism will totaly work!"
"People were just doing socialism/communism wrong!"
"That one doesn't count it wasn't real socialism/communism!"
"I totaly know better and have all the answers but nobody would understand anyway and has no idea anyway so I don't need to prove my point."
Could continue this endlessly but the truth at the end of the day is. All of these are excuses, excuses for a plethora of different approaches and ideas ultimatively boiling down to the very same thing once put into effect and when being allowed to go all the way and all of them just as unsustainable and unworkable in the long run.
Yikes! It said yikes!
Which is made necessary by prisoners often being violent to begin with. The only way to have a completely non violent prison, law and law enforcement system would be for all criminals to be non violent. This is by default not the case. Locking up someone is an act of violence, it however is one that is being done as a direct reaction to the acts of violence in the form of various crimes the criminal in question engaged in to prevent them from continuing commiting crimes and protecting society at large. You need to do some research into the prison system. The threat of violence or the actual use of violence are often used to control prisoners.
Seriously, this is "omfg shitlord, inform yourself!" levels of argumentation.
Who said anything about taking people from their families? The family should obviously be send right along. I'm really not buying your emotionally charged argumentation here, it is dishonest to an extreme degree. "Omfg their families and home!", it is not their home. The same way a house squatters moved into doesn't magically become theirs. If they hadn't moved into it illegaly in the first place, initiating violence against those who already lived there then there would be no need to displace them. The ones who initiated the violence are the ones with guns taking people from their families and homes.
I'm not even American and this kind of logic simply hurts. Does the average American do these things? Do millions of Americans move into countries such as Afghanistan dumping wages, causing various other problems and so on? No? Then the comparison is simply horrid.America's attitude towards borders is very... sad. The only borders they actually give a shit about are their own and routinely invade other peoples borders.
What is being said, who'll say it and the circumstances are important to judge the gesture.
It's like when people imitate the Roy Batty speech in Blade Runner: "I've seen things..."
If a nobody, which is far from dying in the next very second, will say "I've seen things.." and then recounts his mundane life, that doesn't really strike as anything remarkable.
In the same way, if a nobody almost sets himself on fire and botches it, and does so to promote an half-assed message, that's really far from a monk protesting for his freedom in a fascist state by proudly facing the death he's chosen.
Tl;DR: have a message, be a good carrier for the message, and don't botch the execution.
I guess he had a burning desire to make a point
There is the sad paradox of a world which is more and more sensitive about being politically correct, almost to the point of ridicule, yet does not wish to acknowledge or to respect believers’ faith in God
Honestly I'd probably just leave. I'd let their kind slowly turn this place into the hate spewing, ironically bible thumping, land of the moron. Maybe in 50 years or so when they realize just how regressive conservative policy is they'd make a change but right now they're hellbent on dragging anyone with a brain down with them.

Unfortunately I'll never know if your genuine or just being selectively outraged because you sympathize with the mans politics. And yes, that is my opinion of you.
I give no concern to WHY you want whatever, you could have spared me the rant about how you derive your political beliefs because I don't actually care. The one and only time we tried to discuss our actual political leanings you ceased posting because I suppose you became frustrated at your inability to put my in a convenient box.
All things considered, I think you would have been the first with the puns had it been a Bernie supporter and all this pretending to be some concerned American is nothing but convenient bluster from you.

Show me one setting themselves on fire over Obama? Or kidnapping a mentally challenged kid and torturing him for 48 hours.
On MMO-C we learn that Anti-Fascism is locking arms with corporations, the State Department and agreeing with the CIA, But opposing the CIA and corporate America, and thinking Jews have a right to buy land and can expect tenants to pay rent THAT is ultra-Fash Nazism. Bellingcat is an MI6/CIA cut out. Clyburn Truther.
Its gettin hot in here (so hot)
So take off all your clothes
I am gettin so hot, I wanna take my clothes off
Wow Skroe, that sounds so wonderful. Let's see what you said a few months back
Yeah Skroe, unity, christian compassion, christian mercy, wanting the best for the people despite political differences...
You're full of shit. We know it, you know it, everyone knows it.
The only reason you are backpedalling slowly on your hate for "trumpsters" is because you realized you are on the wrong side of history, and want to slimebucket your way to brownie points.
Regarding american values, you are a shameful disgrace and one of the biggest vile losers . Go back to your hole instead of trying to fake compassion like a sleazeball. It's pathetic and disgusting.
