Trump SpeechPresident Donald Trump’s new day for America turned into a "Dark Knight."
After he was sworn in as the 45th president of the United States on Friday, the Republican real estate mogul channeled the main villain from “The Dark Knight Rises” during his inaugural address.
“Today we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another or from one party to another, but we are transferring the power from Washington D.C. and giving it back to you, the people,” he told crowds in front of the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C.
Bane SpeechIn the third installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, the caped crusaders’ rival, Bane, pledged a similar power shift after freeing all the prisoners in Gotham City.
“We take Gotham from the corrupt! The rich! The oppressors of generations who have kept you down with myths of opportunity,” Bane shouts at Gotham’s worst criminals from atop a car, “and we give it back to you, the people.”
It’s not the first time Trump has been compared to comic book antagonists
“Star Wars” icon Mark Hamill has likened him to the Joker — another one of Batman’s rivals — and even read the President’s tweets in the character’s iconic voice. And “Walking Dead” stars Michael Cudlitz and Lennie James have previously compared the Trump to season seven and the graphic novel’s brutal bad guy, Negan.
